SCARS ON BROADWAY Headed For 25K First-Week U.S. Sales - Aug. 2, 2008
Posted by Zildjian on Saturday, August 02, 2008 - 10:05 PM

According to Hits Daily Double (the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS), SCARS ON BROADWAY — the new band led by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan — is poised to sell around 25,000 copies of its self-titled debut album in the United States alone during its first week of release.

SCARS ON BROADWAY played a CD-release show this past Monday (July 28) at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

SCARS ON BROADWAY will launch its first headlining tour of North America in October. Exact dates and venues have yet to be determined.

Both SCARS ON BROADWAY and SYSTEM lead singer Serj Tankian declined to release their latest projects through Columbia Records, where SYSTEM has been signed since 1998.

Tankian's debut solo effort, "Elect the Dead", came out last fall through the Warner Music Group.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN has been on hiatus since 2006 while its members have pursued various personal projects.

A lot of good questions, too bad they couldn't answer some. But damn daron's head looks huge compared to his body with that beard haha. And his voice does go along well with the beard...although I do kind of like his look, much better than when he was clean shaven around the hypnotize time, but not as good as toxicity.

I dont know if it's just me, but it kinda looks like Daron has shaved his beard a little thinner around his mouth..idk about you guys but that's what I think

25K? I was hoping it would sell more than that. The album is really good and it deserves more sales than just 25K in its first week. Hopefully, word of mouth will spread and it was go on to sell a lot.

I think they should release Enemy as the next single...create some more buzz!

Maybe he's pissed because he doesn't get his own mic. lol. He does look like he trimmed the beard. Enemy would definitely rock as the next single. John talks so much more than he did with SOAD. Its so cool. The comment about this vid on youtube make you want to chase after some of the reviewers with a bat or something...

I'm also a little disappointed that they only sold 25k the first week. Hell, I'd be disappointed if they sold 250k in the first week. These guys deserve a hell of a lot better than that! It's too bad they haven't gotten everyone's attention yet...they're way too good to be flying that far under the radar.

Daron definitely doesn't want to be there. Just look at his body language - arms crossed, no eye contact, uninterested tone of voice. He didn't laugh ONCE in this interview!

Compare that with the Musicradar.com interview from a couple weeks ago - sounded like he was having more fun; a nice, light conversation with a lot of laughs. Of course that interview was him at home on the phone, probably after a few nice bong hits! Maybe Daron was out of weed the day of this interview!

I know if I was asked "Has SOAD broken up" every fucking day for the last two years, I would definitely be sick to death of interviews. I don't blame Daron at all. Honestly, the more I get used to it, the more I like the SOAD hiatus. Everyone is really growing in leaps and bounds as musicians as a result of doing their own thing...it's refreshing. It's like going to Europe after college and just finding yourself, you know? I cannot get enough of Elect the Dead and the Scars CD. When System comes back, it's gonna be a whole new experience. They will have grown and evolved tremendously and I think it will be an incredible, unique experience and a force to be reckoned with unlike anything we've seen in years. All will bow before the second coming of the greatest rock band of our time! lol.
