Last
night ( 11-20-09 ) Daron Malakian, John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian got together
to be apart of a benefit auction in Hollywood, CA at The Avalon for a benefit
show. This event was to help for Chi Cheng from The Deftones who has been in a
coma for a year now. In help, John is auctioning his signed drum kit, Serj is
auctioning his signed poetry book, signed poster and a limited edition solo
record of his. Daron is auctioning his signed Gibson guitar and signed picks of
is.
This week Deftones has launched a benefit auction in support of their bassist
and brother Chi Cheng.
Chi has been in a semi-conscious state since being
involved in a horrific car accident in November 2008, and his family has
accumulated an overwhelming amount of medical bills that insurance does not
entirely cover.
It is Deftones’ mission to raise significant funds to
help ensure Chi's recovery by launching this benefit auction in conjunction with
their management Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group, and in association
with CharityBuzz.com.
In support of
this mission, System of a Down have donated Exclusive Autographed Items from
Serj Tankian, John Dolmayan, and Daron Malakian on which you can now bid, on
this website:
There are more items from System of a Down and other participating bands up
for auction being announced November 24th.
THE SHOW
3/4 of SOAD last night played two System
songs', Aerials and Toxicity. They also played songs by The Deftones. Systems'
photographer Greg Watermann was there and he so far has released one photo.

just got back home... it was greatttttttttt. deftones played, they were ok...
John was standing on the side watching the whole time. Daron and Shavo came
later on and watched.
Daron played first with a bunch of people. they
covered a song, it was really good, then the other people left the stage and it
was John, Shavo, Daron and the deftones singer.
We started a system
chant, and daron started playing "Aerials" it was beautiful, they played it very
well. then they played "Toxicity" and everyone went crazy.
The crowd was
really into it, singing and moshing. The guys looked happy, especially Daron, he
had a smile on his face for most of it. it was so much fun.
I had to sign in for the first time in months (perhaps years) to say how much I love this. Great on them. Disappointed Serj wasn't there, but still appeared to be a great event for a great cause.
When I saw this my heart literally got filled with joy xDD THIS IS SO AWSOME!!! Too bad Serj wasn't there though...like someone said before it kinda makes him look like an arse hole for not being there...but I'm sure he had his reasons.
Hopefully this means something else will happen in the future...like more shows!
My friend is gonna be so happy (I am too) that Daron is himself again!!
Did I hear that Shavo's beard is gone?!! It can't be!!! His beard makes people happy!!! (we've tried, it actually did make people feel better hahha)
Really happy to see them performing again. Heh, I'm ashamed to say that I didn't think Daron or Shavo could pull off Battery. They sounded great. :D
Another note, I think people should lay off Serj. Sure he wasn't there, but that doesn't mean there's some bad blood between them. These 2 shows the guys played all seem really last minute. Serj is busy with not only his 2nd album, but the release of his DVD.
I don't see him jumping on a plane and performing with them just to prove to you all there's nothing wrong.
We don't know where exactly Serj is at the moment, but let's not say that "he doesn't want to be there". We don't know the circumstances. Just be patient, he'll be back.
Oh my god!! When i saw this, i started flipping out!! Im sooooo happy to see the three of them...especially daron, since he disappeared for like a year. I was worried...
Im glad hes back to normal.
And what happened to shavos beard?? :O

It would make my life if it was daron, john, shavo, AND serj. And i think thats yet to come. :)
