Chicago Concert 9/30 Review |

 When we first got in the doors, we started looking for our seats, which were in section 101. We circled around the building, completely, and ended up passing the merchandise stand, of course, I couldnt pass that up. Just wanted to look, and maybe try to talk Noah into buying me something later, ya know?
So we went to our seats, and sat down for maybe 5 minutes when a band named Hella came on. Just constant music with occassional singing.
They FINALLY get off the stage about 30-45 minutes later and the lights came on. Everyone was like "They sucked!".
So about 15 minutes later, Mars Volta came on, and the crowd went crazy. They were awesome the first 15 minutes of the show and then it went into constant music, again. The overwhelming smell of the pot smokers behind us were making me sneeze, so about 35 later, I gave up on trying to stay interested in Mars Volta and sat down with Noah. They finished their gig and the lights came on.
About 10 minutes later, the curtain with the cover of Mezmerize came up and the crowd went crazy. Why you ask, I have no idea. All of the sudden you see a swarm of people chasing after some bald headed guy.... turns out the guitar player for Antrax was there. You know, the one with the red beard or whatever.
The lights go out, and the crowd went insane. Darons silhouette came on the curtain and he started playing Soldier Side. He sang it perfectly, silence......
The beginning guitar riff to BYOB began and the curtain dropped. Serj came dancing out, Shavo was jumping around and Daron is going crazy. The crowd was singing all of the songs louder than them! The whole concert was flawless..... they played Hypnotize, which was AWESOME! You wont be disapointed with that single!
They played Kill Rock N Roll, Daron played some random stuff, like a Dire Straights song, but instead of saying "we are the sultans" Daron said "we are the system, we are the system of a down" and then later on, he busted out the beginning of Van Halens "Panama" just as a little teaser. He added a dash of Neil Young, and then they did a free style jam for about 5 minutes.
Shavo was shining a reflective beam from his pick guard onto the audience, *sigh* it reflected in my eye, ok sorry!
They of course, played my favorite song, Forest, got a little teary eyed I must admit, but it was so awesomely perfect in everyway, except for not being a little closer but still, I'm overwhelmed that they played my favorite song.
Later on, I saw the Anthrax guitarist walk out in front of me, I swear if I wouldve know that he was gonna walk by, I would tried to touch him! Before ending the concert with Sugar, Serj wanted to tell us about how the rally turned out on Thursday in front of the speaker of the houses office. He also asked us to send a internet fax to them, so yeah, I gotta get on that one.
After Sugar, John came out and threw his sticks in the crowd. And they walked off! A dream come true and everything that I went through for that concert was so totally worth it.
They are my new obsession compulsion disorder. Afterwards, I talked Noah into getting me a shirt, I couldnt walk away without a new System shirt.

did anyone get pics for this concert? i wanted to take pics but the sericurity guys were giving me the 'evil eye' -i only got like 3 while the sericurity wasn't looking... and they were far away... :-/

Which shirt did you get? cuz i went to that same concert and got a shirt, i got the one where they're all wearing the BYOB helmet with the tour dates in a circle on the back that concert was AMAZING i actually didnt mind that weird hella band, with that crazy keyboardist mars volta was good for a little while if anyone knows the song they played where they had a sweet bass line that he played for like (seemed like an hour) 3 minutes and randomly the flute would come in and out please respond back, cuz that song was pretty cool MR. JACK was AMAZING so powerful and an extended version, it was GREAT

it was amazingly incredible... volta was awesome too except the 20 minute long instrumental.........hella sucked though, what was the deal with them playing?....the flood lights were cool too....are they touring again for the hypnotize album?

O....my god, that cocert was fucken great!!!!!!! The best one i.ve ever been to. I think system of a down really loves chicago!!!!!!! For those of you that went to the concert do you rember someone throwing a basesall cap at daron. That was me. Daron picked it up and looked at it the he trew my hat to the crowd and said that he didnt want anything on his stage and that he was the stage janitor. It was cubs hat by the way. Fucken greAt concert.!!!!!!!!!!

OMG i soooo loved that concert!!! serl was so fuckinhott there. i really want to meet him. i am like sooo in love with him....yeah hella really sucked BIG balls. if anyone wants to chat about this concert....email me @ systemofadownlover_serj@yahoo.com P.S. what was the email address that serj gave us @ the end of the concert?

i went to that concert with a couple friends, i have been to many concerts like korn, linkin park, mike v and the rats, and so far that is the best one ever. although i didnt see the guitarist from anthrax but i wasnt there to see him my eyes were stuck on Daron Malakian.
