forthcoming Release 'Hypnotize', part two of system's promised 2005 two album
set.

prepare for the release 'Hypnotize'
The band's guitarist/singer has revealed that these new songs are among the best
he's ever written, but claims that critical acclaim following "Mezmerize', the
first album of the set, has left him feeling exposed and separated from his band
mates ...
You were very nervous about what people might think of 'Mezmerize'. Are you just as nervous about 'Hypnotize" ?
"No, I was nervous because 'Mezmerize' and 'Hypnotize' were taking system of a down in another direction and, as nobody had heard 'Mezmerize' at that point, i wasn't sure how people would react to me singing more or the sounds in general. 'Mezmerize' broke the ice, so I'm not nervous about how 'Hypnotize' will be received. I'm a lot more confident."
Why the decision to sing more- Are these songs more personal to you?
"A Little of that and I thought my voice would suit the songs more. When someone else is singing about your emotions, it can be tough to get that person to understand the same emotion that you've lived or felt."
People are already calling these 2 albums your masterpieces. Does that make you proud?
"Sometimes it makes me feel alienated from my band, which doesn't feel very good."
Is that because there's a lot more attention on you now?
" It's kind if funny because through the years I've always written the music, the songs and some of the lyrics. But, for years, alot of people thought Serj wrote everything because I wasn't singing. Now the attention has turned to me and it's a little bit weird. It's taken me a little time to get used to it. "
Were you bitter about Serj getting all the attention?
"Sometimes I used to be, but not anymore. I knew that wasn't Serj's fault so I wasn't ever angry with him.
It never really caused any bad relationship between us because how could I blame him?
It's not like he plays up to being a rock star. he's happier for me now because he's always wanted people to know what I do in the band and he's never tried to hide that."
If you had to review this album, what would you say about it?
"I've always explained out music as a rollercoaster ride, up and down. Each song is its own
rollercoaster and, hopefully, you go through a zillion types of excitement and emotions while you're involved in it.
That's how I see System of a Down. But Talking about the songs is not my favorite thing to do because thinking about what I did to make these songs come out isn't necessarily a healthy thing for me. In fact, thinking at all isn't very healthy."
Do you think the songs on 'hypnotize' are the best songs you've ever written?
"yes, alot of them. The same with 'Mezmerize'. I think if people dug that album, then they'll dig 'Hypnotize' - but I don't really think about other people too much and what they think."

Go Daron! Instead of fighting with Serj, he did the mature thing and realized it wasn't his fault and - well you read the article!
Ah, don't worry Daron, you're a kick ass guitarist and the perfect vocalist to aid Serj.
I never thought of the songs being written just by Serj. I always thought Serj as representing the band's views.

i thought they were going 2 break the band up their 4 a minute i was goona say noooooooooo. lol but it seems lke theirs always sumthin goin on between serj and daron i hope they don't get madd at each other cuz tht would frikin suck!

Damn propagandanizing article titles...I really thought there was something to worry about there....but I bet a few months (at most) after Hypnotize comes out, most people will have turned their attention on some other band (no one on here, of course), and hopefully Daron will be happy because SOAD won't be commercial, until their next album, which, for all we know might be Shavo's big singing debut, and the cycle will continue, hopefully for many many years...

Fuck that, I still think it needs to be Serj mostly, and if daron wants to he can do random interludes like in BYOB, but when its like a whole verse..GAY! And he's alienating himself, its his own fault

Well... I have to give them credit for one thing: they chose a title that grabs your attention! I admit, I was a little worried when I saw that, but after reading this... I think it'll all be cool. I like the fact that he was honest about everything; that really heightens my respect for him even more. I also like how he handled the question about being bitter toward Serj. In my opinion, the fact that he was able to get over that shows that he's a strong person. Hell, System of a Down is a strong band, period. I, for one, am really looking forward to Hypnotize.

lol it's crazy that all you guys had the same reaction to the title I did..I was like...how is this possible, they always compliment each other verbally and on stage that what I t hink is about to happen better not happen..and it didn't! Good for you guys.

their music is everything.....daron shouldn't have felt like that towards serj...they are both really talented....i mean serj doesn't mind that daron wrote & sang more as long as it's good music, so why should daron feel bitter towards serj? i think that he by now realized that making music is more important.
and about being comercial, i don't think it's a bad thing that they are a bit in the spot light now cause that means more people get their message.

maybe he feels singled out from the other band members and that sucks for him,i think. their relationship as bandmates is really strong and i dont think he likes to have so much attention directed to him. i see no upcoming drama in his life,nor soads life ,nor hypnotizes success.

Daron is full of shit! He has a consistent pattern in interviews of being extremely arrogant and divisive when it comes to his bandmates. In addition, the fact is that his voice is horrible and makes some of the new songs unbearable to listen to. For the record SOADs' masterpiece will always be its first album period, followed by Toxicity. I doubt very seriously that the other members of the band are jealous of Daron. SOAD is an extremely talented group and the contributions of all the band members makes them great, not one person. SOAD is greater than the sum of its parts. I know the Daron groupie club will hate me for these comments but I don't care. This is one of many comments that he makes publicly to belittle his bandmates, it is time for him to get a clue, he is nor will ever be SOAD.....

<h4>i have had this awful feeling that someting isn't right in the band. When i was watchinf Europe Music Awads i spotted that Serj was very piseed off looking and he was very cold towads Daron. I HOPE SOAD DOESN'T BREAK UP!!
If I could ask any question from Serj it would be something about him and Daron and how they get along nowdays..

System of a Down aren't selling out. They're exactly the same as they've always been. It's the people who've changed. People nowadays here BYOB and think it's about beer and partying and therefore, System of a Down must be cool. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad System of a Down are getting more attention. They deserve it. But it's the posers that ruin it. Suddenly everyone's a System of a Down fan. It's hard to know the true fans from the posers. But this has nothing to do with System of a Down selling out. They've done nothing different from before.
