System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian will contribute a track to
the upcoming full-length album from the Street Drum Coprs, the side
project of The Used frontman 'Bert McCracken'. The CD, which will mostly feature
found instruments, will have a whole lot of other guest stars.
"So far we've only used three drums on the whole recording. Everything else was
stuff we found on the street: garbage cans and satellite dishes and big, heavy
chains and propane tanks," McCracken told MTV.com.
"And it turned out really well. We hoping to get a lot of different artists
to be on it. Hopefully Daryl Palumbo from GLASSJAW will be on it, hopefully DJ
Shadow is going to jump on it too. Daron from SYSTEM OF A DOWN said he's going
to do a track. The STREET DRUM CORPS was pretty much the most punk-rock thing we
saw on the Warped Tour, which kind of bums me out. But it's also encouraging
that there are so many artists looking to help out with it."
The STREET DRUM CORPS debut should be out in February, just around the time
McCracken and the rest of THE USED are scheduled to get to work on a follow-up
to last year's "In Love and Death".
