Hmm, an interesting choice SOAD is making with Lonely Day. I much would have rather seen a vid for Attack, Dreaming, KRNR or Holy Mountains. I really feel that those songs would be just as popular, if not more, to the public and would better represent SOAD.

And as for Daron with his own solo thing, I hope it goes well, I mean We Are One was an awesome side project for Serj, so I hope Daron follows suit in terms of success.

Yes, because everything celebrities say is the absolute truth, and if someone's going to sell out they will always be courteous and tell you first so that you can throw a big hissy fit and burn their CDs. Jesus people, get real. SOAD sold out way before now when they decided that they'd keep on truckin' that anti-consumerist message and then release a double album and charge you full price for each part, spreading the releases out so that they can stay in teh public consciousness longer to attract... you guessed it... more fans! Look at their singles from this--BYOB, the liberal marching call of the century, Question! the really, um, weird one that's got acoostic guitars and crooning followed by electrics and screaming, and now Lonely Day AKA im s0 emo :( I predict the next single off of Hypntize will be Holy Mountains because they've gotta plug the Armenian gennocide some more, and then Radio Video because "Hey man, look at me rockin' out! I'm on the radio!"

Its going to be interesting to see what Daron can conjure on his own...

i think that they should bring out soldier side intro from "mezmerize" then bring out soldier side from "hypnotize" on the same disc together that would be so cool and they could also try to have two seperate video clips for each song and then link them together in plot wise

apperently system of a down are bracking up because darons leaving :(. i hope to god this isnt true but its something i heard in school lonely day is radio friendly but thats ok. if the songs the best on the album but look at the others in this case lonely day is the worst on the cd.

Why oh why did they have to release Lonely Day as a single?

Aw I can't beileve we have to wait until the end of their summer tour for the album. Darons an amazing artist in every way possible so im wicked excited to hear this.

I'm a little sad that Lonely Day is going to be the next single though. I was really hoping Tentative would be but oh well its THEIR call for the many of you that have a problem with it and have no clue what your talking about. "just saying idk though" yes you don't know so keep your mouths closed.

so what if they are gonna release Lonely Day. it wasnt just Daron's decision the whole band probly decided that they sould release it. he said in an interview that i have that he thought it was too "normal" and didnt even want it on the album. if they want to release it, leave em be and let them make their own goddamn decisions.

Hmm.first of all i was drawn to system because first and foremost i am a metal fan at heart.

system was heavy and COMPLETLEY original.

That said, Hypnotize is my favorite album by SOAD.

at first, i did not enjoy darons' singing, as he sang more on this album then any others.

But it grew on me.IMO-these ARE the best songs they ever wrote, and i grew accustomed to(fond of) the layered vocals shared by Serj and Daron.

that said..

I Fear this is the beggining of the end for SOAD.

Daron is clearly on an ego trip.IMO.

After reading, and seeing, interviews, i get a sense he is starting to feel above the band.Like he is a great songwriter, and he feels a bit "above" the band.

He seems to be stressing more control over all aspects of the band.

shoot he practically made Shavo take bass lessons.And i have a hunch,his more prominent vocalization on Mesmerize

is all his idea.(no brainer,but it emphazizes my point)

That said ,now a solo album(don't care it IS different then Serj doing one.Serj does it for activist movements,Daron

cause he thinks he can be a rock star.)

bottom line-They are aprroaching mid 30's to 40's..

1(or 2) albums every 3-4 years.

and there music IS getting more commercial by the minute.

That said..i hope i am wrong..i love SOAD.i love the guys..i

just call it like i see it.

first of all yes mez/hyp was soads best work of art yet..but i dont see how ppl are saying daron is becoming "leader" of the band. Daron has written the same amount of music/lyrics for this set as he has for their first cd and toxicity and steal this. the only diff is he is singing more which adds to the songs. serjs voice alone in these songs just wouldnt sound as good. daron never made shavo take bass lessons...actually shavo never took bass lessons. the WHOLE BAND confronted shavo one day and said "dude ur a better guitarist then bass player" and they told him he should keep on practicing bass more..not just daron..EVERYBODY. daron DID do some of the bass parts in these songs because shavo was getting them down pat..daron obviously did this because obviously neither john or serj could. they work together as a band HENCE if they didnt there would be No soad...so daron doesnt control the band. daron's solo project doesnt mean anything...just he wants to do his own thing for example in 2003 when serj did serart and now how shavo is working with RZA and GZA on an album...so are they having their own ego trips too? its only absurd when daron ever thinks to do his own thing i guess. i duno..i guess i just dont see why everyone is bashing daron because he sings more and hes doing a side project. alot of ppl agree that his singing adds to all the new songs. its not like daron just comes out and says HEY were doing this song a single..if u dont like f*** off. the whole band has to decide what song to do. i gurantee if daron was in control their would be no soad because no one wants a dictator for a band mate..

nobody complained when serj started his own label then did his own side project...or when shavo announced he was working with RZA and GZA to do an album? so why does daron get bashed for starting his first solo project?

as for lonley day..i agree its slow and sounds like green day a little bit (unfortunatly) but it will bring newer fans to soad because it will appeal to other ppl other than hardcore metal fans and such. i think their music is more radio friendly now but im sure its not done on purpose. the band agrees on what type of sound the next cd will have and they go and whatever happens happens...they dont really care how ppl will react. they dont write songs to please ppl...they do it based on what they see/experience...its their art and they dont really care what ppl want. they just got lucky that alot of ppl really get into it.

I think the idea for them releasing Lonely Day as a single is an awsome idea, Lonely Day is one of my fav songs and i especially like the way Daron changed the solo compared to other songs.

Daron's solo project is gonna be awsome, i dont know wat all you are whining about, if u dont like it, dont buy it! but i am a SOAD fan so i think all SOAD members should have a right in what they say and do, and that's what they agreed on...so that's what were gonna get!

also everyone, SOAD's previous singles were all hard, they should have at least one mellow song...

Daron is an awsome writer, singer and guitarist, in my opinion he is the best band member ever, even though i highly respect all the other members of SOAD, Daron byfar surpasses them all
