'Scars on Broadway' First Daron Solo projects / 'Lonely Day' next single |

System of a Down released two chart-topping albums in 2005, Mezmerize and Hypnotize, and the band's prolific songwriter Daron Malakian is already back at work. However, that does not however mean there's another System record on the way -- the guitarist is bashing away on a new project called Scars on Broadway.
"I haven't decided if I'm going to make it a revolving door of musicians or one solid band," Malakian says, "but it all revolves around my writing."
He has time to sort that out, as System are about to film a video for "Lonely Day" and hit the road this summer. After that, the band will take some well-earned time off, and Malakian will seize that opportunity.
"We all want to take a little bit of a break," he says. "But I don't want to sit around, so I'm going to make an album."
Malakian wants to make perfectly clear that System will be alive and well afterwards. "Serj did Serart," he says, referring to System vocalist Serj Tankian's 2003 side project. "We're always doing things outside of System that come back to System in a positive way."
'Scars on Broadway' should be lunched after the next System's summer tour.
"Lonely Day" is officially the next System single from their latest Album "Hypnotize", been already played on both the official Site and myspace, should probably be out by Next March.

2 months later, after watching the lonely day video, instead of judging the video before it even comes out like you fags, it wasnt that great, it was good but not great like the song, oh well. 2nd, i dont like darons idea of going solo because he wont be nearly as successful as he is with soad. soad cant go off without him, and he cant go off without soad, they are a BAND. but daron is awesome and his solo album wont be bad, but not as good as when he was with soad. you fuckin gay daron haters(shimskizzle)

Ok, let me start off by saying that I am a System fan. I got into them on their self-titled first album and I still love them. I'm not coming on here to flame or start a flame war but I have some stuff I gotta get off my chest. Let me start off by saying this: I am majorly disappointed with Hypnotize as a whole album. It's grown on me slightly since it first came out, but I still consider it to be by far their worst album. That being said, I still feel I must vent SPECIFICALLY about this "Lonely Day" song on Hypnotize. This song is absolute GARBAGE. The music is overly simplistic and uninteresting, and lyrics are absolutely BRUTAL. As far as I am concerned, it never should've made the album at all, let alone a single. It sounds like they recorded this atrocity in no more than half an hour at the studio. I mean, this song just redefines "filler". Up to Mezemerize, System was always good for a quality radio song. Though Aerials was not the most heavy song, it was well written and a great representation of System as a band. To me, Lonely Day is a true sign that System has lost touch with what they are doing. I understand that maybe they didn't have enough top quality songs to fill up two albums. But to pick this tripe ending song as a SINGLE??? WTF?? Message to System: Back to the drawing board!
