System of a Down celebrated their official release for their Album
"Mezmerize".
The signing party was made in Best Buy at Burbank, California where many fans
were waiting for their lovely band.
| Daron Malakian surprised the fans by his new hair
style, very short than before (as it was long to his shoulders) now its
barely covers his ears Our Special member Rain, was there and
managed to get her signed copy of the album:
"We waited from 2 all day and They started signing at 7pm and i got mine
signed at 9:30 when I got to see them. and I was green/yellow wristbands
so... and ALL of us got in... I even think the people that didn't have
wristbands behind us got in so... I get inside the door....and low and
behold the first thing I see is the back of
Serj's head... this ball of curls!!! and then I turn and I see System of
a Down and They were all so beautiful...standing right there in front of
me. Then they took my things and then they sent me up the perch"
"The first one was John and he smiled at me and he asked my
name and he signed it and dedicated it to me (RAIN!!!!!) and then next
was Shavo and he signed with his painted fingernails then
Daron...."
"Daron...what a character man. I got to him and set my booklet down and
he just stared at the black tablecloth with his wide stoned eyes and he
took the silver metallic pen and just marked the tablecloth by making
little dots on it for a few seconds and then he slammed his hand on my
booklet and slid it to him then he signed it faster than a hummingbird
second then then pushed it to me and was like 'Next' "
As said before, "Mezmerize" is Disc One of the 2-disc set
"Mezmerize/Hypnotize". Disc Two, "Hypnotize", is expected to be released
late this fall.
Earlier some reports talked about People inside Sony Music are looking
optimistically at 500.000 for SYSTEM OF A DOWN's hotly anticipated
(by fans and retailers) Whether it hits the half-million plateau or not,
the SOAD release is sure to keep rock alive and kicking in the
top reaches of the charts, while Toby Keith is poised to do the same for
country next week in what could be an intriguing culture clash.

System of A Down - Concert Special to Air on MTV
If you missed SYSTEM OF A DOWM on their just-completed nine-city "guerrilla" club tour, or the band's recent appearance on "Saturday Night Live," then be sure and tune into MTV when the network airs "SYSTEM OF A DOWM Live," a half-hour concert special shot at the band's April 4 sold-out show at the Astoria in London.
The show premieres this Friday, May 20 at 11:00PM EST on MTV2 with several subsequent airings.
The "SYSTEM OF A DOWM Live" special will include live performances of :
"Chop Suey!,"
"Needles,"
"Aerials,"
"Science,"
"Psycho," and the band's current Top 10 single "B.Y.O.B," currently a Top 5 track at Alternative Radio.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN's much-anticipated new album, "Mezmerize," Disc one of the 2-disc set "Mezmerize/Hypnotize," is released today, Tuesday, May 17. The band has announced that it will headline a North American arena tour in August/September with THE MARS VOLTA as special guests. Dates will be announced shortly.

With their new double CD, Mesmerize/Hypnotize, Los Angeles rockers System of a Down take on politics, the environment, the war and, most aggressively, Tony Danza.
It looks more like the set of Hellraiser than an estate on the outskirts of Los Angeles. The front-door knockers are carved stone skulls; a goblin with its eyes and mouth sewn shut dangles from the door handle; and on a marble table in the hallway, several more fleshless heads grin ominously. The dining room of this home, owned by System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian, is even more macabre. Skulls are scattered across the top of a baby grand piano, and a life-size skeleton lounges on a leather couch. Or maybe it’s just one of those anorexic groupies we’ve heard about.
It’s like an upscale Manson Mansion. After all, Charlie’s image is virtually everywhere—smirking from a poster next to a picture of John Lennon, peering from the face of an inflatable toy, even mingling into one of several canvases painted by Daron’s artist dad, Vartan Malakian, who created much of the artwork for Mezmerize/Hypnotize, the band’s new two-disc set. (Mezmerize hits stores May 17; Hypnotize will follow in the late fall.) |

SOADFans: Lost in Hollywood is the next Single!

"Lost in Hollywood" will be the next single from the album Mesmerize.
Serj Tankian, the vocalist announced tonight on the System's Takeover on Real Rock 101.1 that the track will be the upcoming single.
'BYOB' supposed to be the first single from the album, but lately the band announced that they won't release it and it might be released only as vinyl. |
