But every generation someone has to break that mold, someone has to ruffle some feathers in order to resuscitate a beleaguered industry. It is from these creative ashes that legends are born…to remind fans, artisans, society, that there really is a reason behind their distorted sonic mayhem. Daron Malakian, guitarist/songwriter/composer, have ranked #61 o­n the Top 100 mosy famous/infamous stars of the metal world.
Serj Tankian, lead vocal, have made it to rank #81

The list was made by "Hit Parader" November issue, which also have listed Serj as the 8th Top Metal Stars of the 21st Century.
And Daron as the 6th on the All Time Most Neglected Metal Stars!

Are the members of System of a Down surprised that their latest release, Mezmerize, has proven to be o­ne of the most successful discs of their hallowed career? Not if you ask them!

"When we were selecting material for this album o­ne of the things that did cross our minds was that just about every song could be played o­n the radio, o­n o­ne rock format or another," said guitarist Daron Malakian.

 "And what made us equally proud was that we believed that we had sacrificed none of our adventurous side in order to make an album like this."

As reported earlier system will perform at the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards in November 03.
They will join Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Madonna, Robbie Williams and The Black Eyed Peas at the live ceremony to be hosted by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's character, 'Borat'.

The System Of A Down video for "Hypnotize" will premiere simultaneously o­n systemofadown.com and MTV.com o­n Tuesday, November 1st.
MTV2 will also begin airing the video that day, starting at 6am and running o­nce an hour until midnight.

Side project is 'not written in stone,' bassist says, 'but we're talking about it.'
System of a Down will release the second half of their Mezmerize/ Hypnotize double LP o­n November 22 — but bassist Shavo Odadjian is already looking ahead to a potentially fascinating side project he's cooking up with Wu-Tang Clan's RZA
 Odadjian said he first befriended the Wu when the two groups teamed up with producer Rick Rubin for a new version of Wu's "Shame," which opens 2000's Loud Rocks hip-hop/rock summit LP. Odadjian has kept in touch with the RZA ever since, and they'd often talk about working together again o­n some future project
