When System of a Down went on indefinite hiatus in 2006, vocalist / guitarist /
songwriter Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan surrounded themselves with
what they each love most. For Malakian that meant relentlessly writing songs,
continuing the ponderously prolific streak he started on SOAD’s double-disc
finale Mesmerize/Hypnotize. For Dolmayan it meant creating his own online comic book superstore, Torpedo Comics, so his collection could swell into the
millions.
Soon their separate stories crossed again, as the songs Malakian wrote
for his long-rumored, less-metal, more-rock-oriented new band Scars on Broadway soon reached a critical mass. After trying out various versions of Scars, he eventually re-recruited his old friend and bandmate to bang out Scars’
far-reaching rhythms.

It was the first time that Scars visited Belgium, with their European Tour.
Sunday evening; After a family party, I drove with my girlfriend to the gig in
Brussels (about 30minutes driving) after finding space to park my car, we went
to the AB. When we came in, we've got some kind of flyers (actually stickers!!!)
from Scars on Broadway!
The opening act : 20.00u (local time) THE RONES (A belgian band, even me didn't
know them, but they were not bad). After 30minutes their time was over.

Interviewing
big name stars always has two sides to it. On one hand, it's awesome to get to
meet and hear the opinions of megastars who have sold millions of records world
wide and are recognized everywhere, but on the other hand, that also means
they've done about five thousand interviews not much different than yours
before, meaning that they've long gone past the stage where they'll think
carefully about what they say, before launching into five minute monologues
about their band. There are exceptions, of course, but Daron Malakian,
ex-System of A Down and currently frontman of Scars On Broadway, isn't one of
them. All I got out of him were very basic answers, even if my System Of A Down
related questions did hinted, sadly, that we won't be seeing anything to this
band for at least a couple of years now.

Pro: Political activist, environmental campaigner and
voice of alternative metal band System Of A Down, Serj Tankian has never
followed a conventional rock career.
Con: Might that have contributed to the fact that he's
now effectively a solo artist, following the announcement in 2006 that System Of
A Down were on indefinite hiatus?

Shavo Odadjian doesn't want you to just listen to his music; he wants you to
see it. The Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist is far from your average
musician.
Shavo's songs range from schizophrenically catchy metal to introspective
spacey hip hop to bass heavy mind-altering electronic broken tech beats. While
in System of a Down, he crafted some of the most infectious, poignant and
popular heavy metal tunes of the 21st century.
