|

A new digital community offers independent and unsigned bands a revolutionary
promotional platform to showcase their talents. urSession.com, gives musicians
from all over the world an opportunity to build an audience in hopes of landing
a record deal. VOA's Behnam Nateghi recently spoke to the site's founder about
this unique Internet portal. Carla Coolman narrates.
The days of aspiring bands performing in relative obscurity waiting to be
"discovered" may be a thing of the past thanks to the Internet. Through
Internet-based platforms, bands can now share their passion for music with a
global audience.
Shavo Odadjian is the bassist with the American band "System of a Down".
Formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, in the western state of California, the band is
now on hiatus. But Odadjian is staying busy with other musical projects. |

A little inside scoop from Greg Watermann and Isaac Flores
|

I had a chance to ask Greg Waterman, director of the
“Praise The Lord, Pass the Ammunition” video and Isaac
(Eye-Sack) Flores a photographer that attended the video shoot a few questions.
Greg was given this video to direct
as Serj thinks it is the most insane unlike the talented Mr. Watermann. Of
course I am kidding, here are the responses from two very talented
individuals…….. |

TRAVEL
“Travel teaches you a lot about the diversity of the world. When musicians talk
about politics we’re often given shit for it’ – and I understand that – but we
do get to travel, which gives us an insight into other cultures. There are
tonnes of places I’ve yet to visit - China, South East China, South America.
Hopefully I can go beyond the places I visited with System. Getting to see
somewhere like Moscow would be great.”
FAMILY
“Being Armenian is like being Italian – family is everything. It’s where you
come from and without knowing where you come from you’re never going to know
where the fuck you’re going. When I’m back home I make a point of going to visit
my parents every Sunday at the very least. The bonds between family members are
the bonds we need to built between each other, in order to make this world a
better place.” |

Shavo on Achozen progress and UrSession details

System
Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian is not only spearheading the new
internet musicians community urSESSION, he's also trying to put the finishing
touches on the first album by his new band, Achozen.
The group features RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, and Odadjian said it's a dream
come true.
"Me and RZA working together making music? That's fun. I'll do that for free.
It's not even time. I'll stay up all night and do a couple of shots and work.
That's RZA. My friend and my bandmate is my idol and vice versa, and that's a
trip. If anyone should know how RZA...what he's done to music. What he's done to
hip-hop. What a change he's made to lyrics, and to beats and to hip-hop itself.
But to have that guy respect me as much as I respect him, to do a band together
and to know that we're there mentally boom (makes connection gesture). |
