System of a Down's bassist, Shavo Odadjian and The Rza from Wu-Tang are teaming up early June for
writing/recording a new solo record but that's not it, There's also plans to
release singles and tour.
It was reported before, earlier in last October, that there's 'talking' about
a side project but without further details; Side project is 'not written in
stone,' Shavo's talking in October 2005, 'but we're talking about it.'
Odadjian said he first befriended the Wu when the two groups teamed up with
producer Rick Rubin for a new version of Wu's "Shame," which opens 2000's Loud
Rocks hip-hop/rock summit LP. Odadjian has kept in touch with the RZA ever
since, and they'd often talk about working together again on some future
project.

Paul Di'Anno working with System of a Down?
|
 |
| Posted by ZAk on Thursday, April 27, 2006 - 10:46 PM |
When discussing his plans for the future in an interview with MaidenNorway.com, former
Iron Maiden singer 'Paul Di'Anno' talks about working with System of a Down!
Mr. Di'Anno says;
"I will make a new record again, I think. Maybe…. See I don’t do many, I make one album, then two or three to four years later… because I’m always working! But we’ve got some ideas. Paulo, the guitarist who wrote everything with me for Living Dead, has moved back over to England from Brazil. So I’ll meet up with him on Sunday for the first time, and he’s got some new material. We got some shit we wrote a couple of years back but I gotta find it. I had all lyrics done and everything, it was pretty awesome stuff! So, I’ve got all that going on. I think I’m gonna do some work with System of a Down. So, that’s it. More punk shows coming up as well with the punk band, as well. That’ll be good!"
Wether actual arrangements have been made with System of a Down to make this happen, remains unknown as Mr. Di'Anno did not ellaborate on this matter.

Deftones Serve Up 'Buffalo' With Serj On New Disc
|

Chino Moreno of Deftones said he's doing a side project with Serj Tankian
"I wasn't interested in making a Deftones record at the time, and we were
writing songs here and there, but no one really wanted to take control of the
project," he explained. "With Team Sleep, there was just so much creativity
going on, and everybody wanted to try all these weird, different things. So I
just had more interest in it, and I told everyone [in Deftones] I was going to
go away for a while. And Team Sleep was really fun for me. Some people enjoyed
it, some people didn't."
And there are several guests who'll be appearing on the album, he said,
including Giant Drag singer/guitarist Annie Hardy on the electronically inclined
"Pink Cell Phone," which "reminds me of a club song, but it's Deftones, and
that's what's awesome about it," said Moreno. System of a Down frontman Serj
Tankian appears on the song "Buffalo."
"I've done a lot of stuff with a lot of people, and Serj came by and
sang a little melody in this little part of this one song," said Chino. Other
tracks planned for the record include "America," "FM" and "Beware." "I like to
use people for what it is I like about what they do, and to me, I really like —
I'm not too into System of a Down, lyrically, so much as I like some of the
melodies that him and [guitarist] Daron [Malakian] do. That's what I utilized
him for."

Izabelle's Scar 2006 Benefit Show
|

| Posted by ZAk on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 02:18 AM |
John Dolmayan is special guest in an Armenian genocide benefit show in L.A.
Despite SOULS 2006 being canceled due to unknown reasons, other Los
Angeles-based bands are following in the footsteps of System Of A Down and using
their creative talents as a means of contributing to the genocide recognition
effort.

The Apex Theory, a Los Angeles-based band with 2 Armenian members, has
organized "Izabelle's Scar 2006: An Armenian Genocide Benefit Show" dedicated to
raising awareness about the Armenian Genocide. The band will be joined by
various artists, including John Dolmayan of System of a Down, on April 23
at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Participating organizations include
'Amnesty International' and 'Axis of Justice'.
At the event, The Apex Theory, Harout Pamboukjian, OneSideZero and others
will perform. Aside from rock band performances, there will be spoken word and
poetry readings by Knowledge the Wordsmith (who opened at SOULS 2004), and up
and coming film-maker/poet Armen Christopher Ramon Soudjian (ACRS). The night
will be concluded with a jam session with John Dolmayan (SOAD), P-Nut(311),
Djivan Gasparyan Jr. and other surprise special guests.
