Songs Meaning - Mind: Bet you've never seen THIS one before!

Post subject: Mind: Bet you've never seen THIS one before!
When I first came across this song, analysis proved to me that this song was about someone being raped, possibly a small child. But after looking at it from a different point of view, this song is actually about some random family getting pissed off by a couple of bees while on a picnic. Yes you did read that correctly. Anyway now I shall prove my poignant point.

"Look at each other, Look at each other, Look at each other, Look at each other."

The song only officially starts when Serj says these lines, anything before that is improvised and not officially part of the song. Well, this may sound strange, but this part is from the bee’s point of view, saying to the unsuspecting humans that they should look at each other for support and comfort, and to look at them while they still can. Freaky, these guys are evil bees… Twisted Evil

"Go away, Go away, Go away, Go away.......

Mutually, mentally molested children of a Mother,
Mutually, mentally molested children of Sin,
The ever so popular beating that took you under,
The ever so popular beating that broke your skin."

I shouldn’t even have to explain the "Go away", I’m sure that you have realized that the bee has now revealed himself and the Dad of the family is shouting at the fuzzy little striped creature. Now this verse is about how the kids are being tortured by this bee, and it is mentally molesting them (molesting as in bothering, not raping). The kids are the children of a mother (duh) and also, since their father is viciously trying to kill a living creature I guess I could call him a sin, which they are also children of. The next couple of lines describe the bees sting, and maybe at this point the bee has stung one of the family. Oh and also if you listen to the guitar in the first couple of lines, it sounds like…a bee! Coincidence? I think not!

"Free thinkers are dangerous,
Blame, Hate, For Fate's Seed."

Now I’m gonna be honest here and say I have no clue what this has to do with my theory…Sorry! I never said it was perfect… for now lets just say a nearby cat is reading out poetry or something…sounds kinda poetic so we shall stick with that.

"Need the ones you love and love the ones you need,
Need the ones you love and love the ones you bleed,
Lives rearranged and lives in my range can you breath
Lives rearranged and lives in my range can you see."

Basically, the bee is being evil again, and explaining how the humans need each other if they’re planning on surviving this horrific ordeal. Then, it goes on about how such a small thing (the bee) can make people have to change what they were doing (rearrange their lives).

Now here we have a plot twist. The line which I had no clue about is repeated, followed by a silence; all has calmed down, the humans are safe again. But then, when they least expect it, a whole swarm of bees is attacking! This madness is represented musically, not lyrically, and then theses lyrics follow:

"Why, Why, Why, Why,
Gonna let you mother fuckers die, Gonna let you mother fuckers die,
Gonna let you mother fuckers die, Why........"

Now the dad of the family is really getting mad, screaming Why at the bees, and then the next line is interesting. As you may or may not know, bees die once they have stung. So the dad screams that he’s gonna let them die, so he lets them sting him.

"Look at each other, Look at each other.. "

Now I don’t know whether this dad was allergic to bee stings or if there were just a mass amount of stings, but that guy is dee ee ay dee DEAD. His last words are advice to his family about how they should look at each other and appreciate each others’ company, and this song slows down over these lines, and on the final guitar line, where he should say something, he doesn’t representing his death.

Now as I’m sure you’ve realized this is a very strange interpretation, and I shall eat my hat if it has been posted before. I would be surprised if you had read all that but please do, and reply with thoughts about my theory, or maybe your theory of this song!

Adios!

Well, it made me laugh. Your style (spoofing songs) could be good. But if you're serious, no like dead serious, then man you're wrong. In the self titled booklet it says something about mind controlling. So you are definitely wrong.

Nice theory (and funny too) but according to the self titled lyric booklet that came with the album, it's about the CIA using mind control devices since the 1930's.

I have the booklet BRB

*Runs to cd collection*

Mind says: "Mind control technology has been used by the CIA since the 1950's as part of their non-letal, covert weapons program."

While Spiders says: "Your thoughts, and dreams are no longer sacred, as they are exposed to a weapon known as remote viewing and monitoring."

Wow. I must say I'm impressed! That's a really original view. And as you said, I've always thought this song to be about a child that has been raped or something. I also have a theory it might be about bullying (like in school), and what it does to you, psychically and physically. Anyway, you're really original, and you rock! Very Happy I'd love to see more of your zany interpretations of SOAD songs!

You have your own original way of thinking these interpretations of soad songs! Do you just come up with these ideas or you have to sit down and spend hours thinking?

Thanks Smile Actually it depends on the song...with the Tentative one it was from a suggestion so i literally spent like half an hour just staring at the lyrics...until I found one link...like on the Tentative one it was the "spiral to the ground" bit that made me think of a rollercoaster, then it all spread out from there. But when making this one, i was on a walk with my family with mind in my head, and a bee started pissing me off, and I guess it got me thinking Smile So they all come up in different ways.

Actually another theory about this one has come to me: that it's about someone who keeps on getting woken up by their baby in the middle of the night. Maybe one day I'll make a "Mind: Bet you've never seen this one before 2" XD

well i think the bee represents the CIA because in the booklet
of the first system of a down album, there is a footnote before the lyrics for mind
and it says

"Mind control technology has been used by the CIA since the 1950s as part of
their non-lethal, covert weapons program."
