i've had that cd for awhile. i absolutly love it. i find it beautiful and deep. Arto and Serj are great at what they do and i think they should do more in the future. my favorite is facing the plastic, geetar, narina, cinema oh my gosh practically all of them. i love how serj "whispers" his poetry in the songs, its abosolutly wonderful. you know what though? the dvd that comes with it, that is something to watch. its great the music and the vision that comes with it. its is definitly something serj would put that music to. Anyone see that its called "sun angled calculater" definitly watch it, its just cool how each song unfolds to the next song.

if you listen to 'science' song you can hear him with his flute in the middle of the song
and Also in the outro of aerials the 'hidden 3 min track' is by arto as well .. he just so good

There are only a few artists in this world.. Not everyone can be considered one.. But what was delivered through Serj and Arto in Serart is truely considered art.. They are true artists and it is shown through this album.. Every song is amazing.. And it takes your breath away.. I love this album.. Its one I like to keep to myself.. To beautiful to share with just anyone..

that something that pisses me off, what the hell do music stores do that for...how do they get to choose what the hell we listen to and what we buy? mainstream my ass.....like what fucking britney spears...."opps i shited again!" i think they should have real art in their music stores, do they not have the beatles either?

i apologize...i needed to vent....heh'

yes i think serart is definitly something to listen to. The first time i listened to it i was lying in my big backyard in the middle of the grass and the sun was shinning on me and the wind was slightly breezing against the one tree in the yard, when the 1st song came on.....intro....it was went so beautiful with the atmosphere all around me and i listened to the whole album and the beautiful part was when it went to Claustrophobia towards the end to the transaction to Narina it started to slightly sprinkle and with me listening to the album it was so wonderful. it made me love the album more than ever. so if you ever get a chance to listen to it for the first time go to the beach....or lay outside and gaze at the stars or clouds...go anywhere but your bedroom. it definitly has a wonderful effect! They have what they think is going to sell, it isnt there job to stock less-known music, even if it is better than 90% of the shit on their shelves. Used record stores and the internet are where you should be looking.

From the samples i've heard on amazon, and that 13 minute thing that kind of blends parts of the songs together, it's amazing.

wow. mainstream is simply codeword for what is selling. what is popular, whats gunna get off the shelves and have to be restocked the fastest. and don't get me wrong. the bulk of this is shit. but thats what the masses want. pop. happy. upbeat. if you want real music, you have to look, and read. you have to question those who have been there before you, and you will learn, so that when the time comes, you can help the next one seeking decent music.

But I certainly wont let the next generation down! Wink I have heard a few songs off the album, and I absolutely adore them! I've been downloading them so I can still experiance the awesome until I find a music store that carries it! This is driving me nuts!

HAHA! yes, thats the beauty of this CD, its full of these weird crazy stuff, I really love it
reminds me somehow of old Pink Floyd stuff, while they were singing about something like bells, you hear bell ringing in the background or someone shouting or screaming ..etc
it makes you feel like you're living in the song.. same feeling when you're on acid though Laughing

i got my at tower records. It is honestly a beautiful piece of work. Narina is beautiful song, I love the intro to it, and than how the beat suddenly drops...beautiful. Leave melody country fear, I didnt think Serj's voice could sound anymore beautiful than what Ive already heard, but he sounds incredible. Wow the man is toooo talented. Arto is awesome too, if u go to serjicalstrike.com, there is an audio interview with arto, and talks about how his style of music came about. Its a very interesting interview. Hes also worked with many other artists including Norah Jones. Check it out if youre ever bored.

I just got Serart yesterday and listened to the whole thing through. It's definitely the most unique CD I have and I haven't heard anything else like it. Some songs are really wacky, some are enigmatic, some are beautiful. The way I think of the album is like an abstract painting with all this separate pieces that don't seem to fit all put together to make a masterpiece.

The Intro was very pretty. The piano part was really nice. I'd love to see Serj playing it! Cinema is one of the strangest and most random songs I've ever heard. But it works with the CD pretty well. I liked the drums a lot in The Devil's Wedding. Leaving Melody Counting Fear is one of my favorites, and Serj sounds great. I also really like Narina. Jenna Ross has a lovely voice and the song is hauntingly beautiful. Claustrophobia is another good one. The poem at the end that Serj speaks is amazing. I had tears in my eyes when it was over.

It was a really good CD overall. Arto has a really interesting voice, and his music is very natural and exotic. Armenian sounds like a lovely language from what I've heard in this. And Serj, was of course just as amazing as in System of a Down. I'd love to hear him do more of this sort of thing.

My money definitely wasn't wasted. A true artistic experience. thumb right

Serart is a good influence of my band, Desert Mind Trip!!!

I got Serart about a month ago off of ebay haha. I have been listening to it ever since. Yeah- I feel like I'm cheating on System of a Down. But Serj still sings on it and it's half his music-- so Its fine right?
Its just so powerfully beautiful. I love just about every song on there. Ones that stand out for me though are track2(cinema?), track 7(save the blonde), track 9(melody one), track 12(narina), and gee-tar and facing the plastic of course. So yeah thats a lot for my 'favorites'...
I think Serj's voice blends perfectly with Arto's... JUST like how Serj's voice blends perfectly with Daron's. Cool huh?
And they have so many tempo changes just like SOAD.. I think it's awesome. The songs never get old. They have world influence in their music.. rock infleunce.. just everything. So many great instruments.. this CD should definately be more popular than it is! It is worth a lot more than what I spent on it.

The Serart album continues to amaze me. It's something that you can always come back to and you can't get bored of it because there's so much to hear and every time you play it back you notice new things..very nice layers. I am looking forward to a second SERART album if it comes. The first album was a masterpiece and I am interested to see how Serj (and arto?) could follow this up and push the ideas and direction even further.

I'd also like to see Serj incorporate this kind of influence into future SOAD material..I'm not suggesting the next album be an abstract, dissonant mix of arabian chants, bellydancing rythmns and daron's voice drowned in reverb and looped but just push the sound even further..anyway i see theres another thread about this (suggestions for next soad album) so ill go rant in there

You know I bought mine off of ebay for only 6 dollars. So get a paypal account its really simple.
Narina lyrics... uh... "yetti, naninaninana yetti-i-i-i-i-i-i naninani etc.... give yourself up to me, fathers love is what i breathe, ill weigh you down and make you mine, ...salvation...temptation... walk with me tonight... ill surrender any measure...."

Sorry its hard to hear what the woman is saying.... -_- I think she's just translating what Arto is singing

Then Serj sings, " ...then drown in the sun today... and our lives are like.... and you belie-e-eve...."
hahaha seriously its hard to tell what they're singing. Its just what it sounds like to me..

That would be MY masterpiece!
I made it for an art contest which was apparently BOGUS!!!
The contest was for artistic interpretations of
Facing The Plastic.
With a family of five,
I thought "I face mountains of plastic every day!!"
(I have a huge recycle bin)
It took me two months to make it!
I purchased no additional materials other than the paint and the board,
all of the plastic involved was from regular use consumption by my family!!
Everything but the board and the paint is plastic.
It was too large to bring inside because our house was small at the time,
and the elements destroyed it!!
It was pretty fucking cool!
(if I do say so myself)

I don't know!
Nobody does!
It was on the official Serart site.
It said that a winner would be chosen and that the pic (or whatever) would be on the official site, etc. The dealine was June 30 and that was the day I finished!
A lot of people I know from various forums had entered and the next day,
the add was gone, and nobody ever heard another word about it!!
Most people had done paintings and drawings, but some of them were really nice!
It was a shame because we all worked really hard on our projects!
I was totally crushed!!
I couldn't wait for Serj & Arto to see this.....and I will never know if they did.

Well, that's not true.
When they first built the site they had a contest to see who could tell the most people about Serart.
I sent out an e-mail to EVERYBODY!!!
I ended up winning: a 12' vinyl, a promo poster, & a promo cd sampler.
That's why when the second contest came along,
I fully believed it.
I didn't have to wait any long period of time or anything.
It all came pretty timely.
I was SURE that this would be real!
I'm sure it was the marketing agents who put it together.
Maybe there was a copyright problem or something,
I don't know.
They could have at least thanked everyone for participating and let us know what went wrong!!
----------------------------
It's weird, this kind of thing happens a lot where SOAD is involved!!
I think Zak is right about their management!
No offense to Beno, or whoever it is/was.

I'm pretty sure you can get it from SerjicalStrike.com. Also, try a music store with more of a 'back log.' Like, I think BB keeps only current stock. try a Planet Music or an 'indie' store. Some places will order it for you. Barnes & Noble for example.

Have you tried asking the CD shop to order it for you, I don't know where you live, but it shouldn't be a problem, they just look it up on the computer...
I live in New Zealand, I have never seen it in any shops here, don't actually know anyone who has it or has even heard it, but I just asked and they said sure no problem it will be here in two weeks. I don't even have to buy it if it turns out to be too expensive!! Much less risky than buying online. (Of course it will have to be pretty damned expensive for me to not buy it once it gets here!)

Does anyone have the lyrics to Claustrophobia? I can catch most of it, but there are a few lines I'm not sure about. I really expected to find it in Cool Gardens but no such luck.

And don't give up, diamondgrrl. You're sure to find one on E-bay or somewhere.

My favorite is Narina. I actually got a "Serart sampler" cd as a Christmas present, and there is a different mix of that song where you can understand the lyrics better. Damn I need to listen to that again soon.

Its funny because I bought the CD totally expecting to not like it but decided to give it a chance because I believe Serj is very creative and I wanted to check out his side project - and I totally loved it. I have to say that this CD has also turned me on to Arto and I will have to check out more of his projects. Arto is amazing! I'm definitely glad I bought this.

I've heard several of the ANB's songs over the last couple of years...and they are such works of art! Arto is truly an amazing artist...who can make music out of just about anything!

^^ I'm definitely glad youre of the latter Wink I know you are. But it really does piss me off when people don't understand Arto. It doesnt bother me as much if they dont understand other artists, but with Arto, it really gets to me, simply because he does it out of his sincere heart, and with virtually nothing (instrument-wise). I've had a very personal experience with this the very first time I heard Arto (I didnt even know he was Arto at the time)..but we'll save that for another day Wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igR9uUmyXWU

Here is a link for those of you interested, of Arto performing at the World Music Awards. Watch the WHOLE thing, because at the end he gives such a heartfelt and humbling speech.
