The Prize
One lucky winner will win one of the 'bonus pack 2 CD' System Of A Down (self-titled) red version:

**Bonus Enhanced CD includes 4 live tracks: Sugar, War?, Suite-Pee, Know - also the Sugar video and behind the scenes footage.
Contest Theme
If you're into making or playing music (cover or remix) then choose ONE of the following:
1. Scars on Broadway's "They Say"
2. Achozen's "Deuces"
3. Scars/Achozen combo (mix)
Use your creative music skills to cover or/and remix one of the two songs (or both together). We will allow only one from your choice, using any extra effects, tools played, computer programs or anything you'd like.
Contest Rules - please read carefully!!!
1- Only SOADFans Members who are registered before May 1st are eligible to enter this contest.
2- Only one entry per member is allowed. (group or band entries are consider as one entry).
3- Do Not post your entry until the contest is over.
4- Adding special effects are allowed.
5- Please upload your song somewhere and make sure the sound quality is good.
6- Deadline to receive the entries is May 25, 2008.
How to Send Your Song
All entries should be sent by private message to cozmachina with the following info:
- Subject: May Songs Contest.
- The name of the song you have covered/remixed.
- The link of the entry (uploaded at any free host).
Please provide us with that info or your entry will be removed.
Contest FAQ
1- What tools should I use in the remix/cover?
- Anything you like, its completely up to you.
2- Can I sing the song and then add a computer effect?
- Use whatever you want, no restrictions.
3 - Can I definitely use both songs to mix together in my entry?
- Yes, this is now allowed (back by popular demand!!).
4- Is the prize signed by any of the band members?
- No, its not, maybe next time 
5- When will you announce the winner?
- Will be announced on the end of the month, selected via the Hut members.

Dont just loop the intro of They Say and put some Serj poems over it though, It wouldnt really be they say anymore would it?

the problem with this contest is : Rockstar VS Computer-DJ . I mean , we're all rockers here , so naturally you'll want to hear a cover , of a rock song ( cough THEY SAY cough ) , so I'm really worried that remixers are gonna be very minor and awkward among rock cover entries , anyway , good luck Rockers and Remixers

Well the thing about remixing is, unless you do it REALLY well, people don't really pay attention to it because they can be made so easily.
However, if you do do it well, it can be awesome.
Although, it was a straight up cover that won last time.
But before that I believe it was kind of a cover/remix combo... it was for Needles but it was eerie with redone vocals and a haunted kind of sound... very experimental.

Check the rules again... and those of you who submitted entries already, you have a choice:
if you want to change and send a final, we'll take your second entry only. And that's for anyone that submitted and want a different experiment. Just let us know please in this thread - and the decision to resubmit by the deadline of May 25th.

well , I used a program called Virtual DJ , BUT , I don't think you can download it free from the web , I got it from a friend who bought it , I think .
If you want , a very available software in stores is Adobe Audition , it's not really for remixes , just anything audio , but you can stack sounds on top of each other , and change pitch , and add echo , and stuff like that

My main recording program is Adobe Audition, its awesome, but really expensive if you happen to pay for it...

It's like a program , a simple one , where you put these things on lines . Each picture is a sound , and each line is a pitch . Thus , you can make some very annoying versions of popular songs , or even unpopular ones .

Now I have a Mic from 'Rock Band' which is actually quite good, and my Digitech RP250 has a nois gate and direct output to usb, and it's really clear. I didn't pay for either of them myself, one was an xmas present, the other, birthday
