How many of you think urSESSIOn has lost it's touch? Ever since that stupid 100k Battle thing the only "musicians" that got on there are now rappers and posers attemping to rap. All the comments now adays are, "yo u got sum dope shitz in ur profile but hay vote fo me nd i vote u bak."

I think what you guys don't realize is that rock isn't the only fucking type of music out there.
And yea, the 100k battle is cuz of the Wake Up Show, which is a HIP HOP show.
I'm sure there will be plenty more contests that consist of more than just hip hop. But till then you guys just need to deal and not be so closed minded.

Like how I don't like country music, if they had a big country contest I wouldn't ditch the site for being open to more than one fucking genre.

It's still a good site. Just ignore people that you don't like and if they spam you delete them. Sure there's a lot of bad rappers, but there are actually a few good one(shocked me too). Not to mention the crapload of bad rockers and handful of good ones on the site. The 100k battle might be annoying but it will blow over like everything else.

Well, you may hate me for saying that but even if Shavo's music influences are Rock and stuff it seems to me that he's more keen on the hip-hop side.You can see that from the way he plays the bass.It has not rock variety inside just rnb style.This is'nt necessarily bad, I JUST THINK THAT HE LIKES ALL THE HIP HOP STUFF that are going there...

All urSession can do to control the spam is enforce a limit of posts per day, even private messages, of course it will piss off a few genuine users, but afterall its not made to be a social networking site, its a new voice to get your work heard.

For so many 'rappers' to join the website shows the demand for somewhere to show their talents, of course there will be awful recordings, immature lyrics etc, but the whole idea of the website is to give some people hope. Afterall for some, music is all they have.

However something should to be done to make it easier to find good music. So many users, so much to sift through, its hard for good musicians to have their song heard even on urSession. It seems like more profile hits or larger fanbase, more likely the profile will be promoted or have higher votes, so it's hard for new musicians to build a following without resulting to spam messages, new profiles are usually at the back of the many pages, little chance of being heard.

Rap wasn't like that in the days of Sublime and The Beastie Boys, which happen to be two of my favorite artists. They touched on some funny issues (that DIDN'T refer to bitches and hoes and all that shit), girls in a less sexual way, and some political issues that are close to home with them.

But now, rap has gotten ridiculous. I don't fucking care if you've been shot eighty god damn times, you don't fucking impress me for that. Sorry to burst your bubble, but any idiot can look at a dictionary with words simplified and understand them. And here we come up with rhyme schemes. Those are, in my opinion, the least important things. Rap reminds me of nursery rhymes that way. It all rhymes. It's all far too symmetrical. As Zane said, the website itself was advertised to a crowd that the majority hates rap. Maybe the solution is to more effectively advertise. Because I've given rap a chance, PLENTY a chance. I think you have to look at an important factor which is , hip hop and rap were not always the way they are now
they were different in the 80s , they were different in the 90s , and they're different now
sure , today the dominant type of rap is the gangsta rap that some of you may hate ( I generally don't like it )
but you have to look at the entire painting to make an opinion , you can't just glimpse some parts of it

The Beastie Boys are some of the better popular artists , they're slightly different than the rest

but you should really dig deep , and I mean DEEP , the good ones are hidden , they're gems !

here's a personal tip from me : if anybody here plays the Tony Hawk games , they have hip hop tracks in them so un-gangsta you wouldn't believe ( Del tha Funkee Homosapien , Aesop Rock , Ugly Duckling . . . )

on a related note , turntablism , hip hop's little brother , is also diverse and not to be judged too quickly , for it can be unusually jazzy ( Kid Koala . . . )

I also have one final thought , The Black Eyed Peas !
today , they're those " My Humps" idiots , but when they first started out WITHOUT THAT BITCH FERGIE , they were pure awesome , and I advise rap fans to check out their first album and compare them then and now

I don't think that you all read the most important part of the post. I AGREED with a lot of the things you guys said. Not ALL rap is this way. I am a fan of the genre in the 80's; I do have a really wide variety of musical taste. Unfortunately, I have found that the modern popular rap (I didn't say a thing about underground rap, did I? I said MOST of it. MOST. Thank you.) of today's world happens to talk a lot about gang violence (and not intellegently), hoes, nightclubs, expensive cars, and it's all just consumerism and lies in my perspective. Although I'm hoping this was not directed toward me. I don't recall using the word douche bag towards anyone here.

My main point was not that rap is "immoral and bad", my main point is that I do not respect newer rap, but I do however like the 80's hip-hop related scene. I think that point was lost when obvious other issues and tensions (which I'm not sure were brought on by, to be honest) were brought to the table. And that is all I really have to say about that one.

I'm generalizing the MAINSTREAM artists. I LIKE the underground stuff. I'm not a picky musical listener, believe me. The mainstream artists, yeah, I don't like at all. I'll admit it. They suck, I've found. In my opinion, modern music has dipped in value. Immaterial has become material possessions like people and money. That's what the majority of songs are now about.

I can deal with some mainstream artists, but the most have lost my respect. That's my opinion, and the point I am making overall.
