Even if he was on a break, they wouldn't shut down the website. This must mean Daron has quit....or Sony have told him to stop.

I think Daron shoulda signed some better acts. I'm not talkin about Satyricon, I mean artists that people in the Western world really wanna see, like if he found his way to signing a band like Korn (LOL like that would happen) it would be different.

I guess Daron isn't too much of a businessman to have made it work properly.. I suppose he's more about the creative side. Can't have it all now, can you? Smile

Too right you can't.
I didn't know what to say when I went to have a look on the site and it didn't come up. Maybe Daron just a bit sick of it.

If he really wanted to do anything with it again, he probably wouldn't have let the domain name expire and let the signed bands go to other labels that easily. Looks like a pretty dead end to me..

My guess:

When Daron signed up Amen to his record, Daron put quite a bit of money and effort into promoting this bands album on his new label. Like with Casey's old record labels, he managed to screw up the band's line up, and the record deals. Amen's new album was a big deal, and they sank back into obscurity straight after "California's Bleeding" made a breif appearance on TV and stuff, and people realised this band sucks. Therefore no one bought the album, and EatUrMusic went under, so Sony scrapped Daron's label as it was wasting their money.

And since Satyricon switched over to roadrunner, they've become quite popular and are doing well for themselves. No one knew of them when they were on EatUrMusic.

Overall, I think Daron's just a bad businessman, and should just stick to the music! Oh and avoid Casey Chaos - that man is trouble!

Yep, I'm sure Daron wanted to put more effort and energy into making music rather than the business side; i don't think Serj will let us down in the long term

p.s with all due respect, i kindly asked people not to make any direct criticism to Casey and AMEN.

Let me clear this up, regardless of what you think of Casey and AMEN

Casey is not trouble.

Casey has strong passion and belief in his music.

His music is obviously not the most easily digestible, not made for mass commercial appeal.

Eaturmusic was Daron's label, but remember it was an imprint of Sony so they more or less needed to see some 'results' from his sales as well.

"Death before Musick" isn't exactly easy listening.

Daron wanted to try give Casey a leg up, he did a great job getting DBM on the shelves, out in the stores with good distribution.

Obviously it's not a top 10 hit. Record label doesn't get the results they want.

Also, being an imprint, there is no day to day promo / A&R staff or whoever to promote the record and help get it marketed or whatever..

There is no bad blood between Daron and Casey themselves..it's all because of issues with the imprint and Sony who were behind it

Hence, Daron obviously has decided to let Eaturmusic go, for the time being, or for ever, who knows. Too many business aspects involved. Daron said he doesn't want to be responsible for making or breaking people's careers.

It doesn't matter what we think are songs are about or what we think at all. It's all on you.
