just wunderin what you think of my idea for my bands music genre...
~~~FUNK-METAL~~~
picture this, if you will, A grooving funk drum beat ( along with crazt dubble kick rythms ) accumpanying intense to the bone metal riffs...

Like White Zombie? They fused some funk with some metal.
And I really think when cultivating a sound, don't try and fit it into some genre. Just play what comes to you....let you dictate the style, not the style dictate you.
For example. My band. I set out with the idea to write and play good music....but it turns out, we're a shitty band...so we let our styles blend together and now play bad music. |

| you have a great point there, i just know that i get alot of that feel when i write so i decided to call it funk-metal. it is only based on riffs i come up with. |

hey man, sounds good, but i think it will always be called Crossover-Metal ^^ but if you play exclusively funk-metal, fine ^^
aside from that, you should't give too much about a genre name/definition. too many genre definitions are bad for the scene, if you know what i mean.
we do combine almost every kind of Music including funk and its prettyhard to name this ^^ so we just say "Crossover-Metal".... saying "oriental, funk, punk, polka, pop, heavy-,thrash-,death,power-metal" would be too much ^^

| its stupid that now there are so much genres... sometimes hard to name a genre of group. you know, like AC/DC is heavy metal, but what is heavy metal in our times? some people cant call AC/DC heavy metal... becasue of all these genres... its strange. |
