| what a show it was awesome serj was awesome the only thing that screwed it up was since it was an all age show there were a lot of young kids there many with their parents, my son and daughter went with me, we arrived very early to get in line early, and as soon as we got into the stage area we planted ourselves in a spot right in front of the stage, my son and daughter are 15 and 17, my son left to get a soda, and my daughter went to the restroom while they were gone this man woman and their 2 kids came over and pushed in front of me i said hey we were here first my kids are getting drinks and will be back shortly, the woman said something like oh who died and left you as owner, anyway when my kids came back we tried as best as we could to stand in the original spot. when fair to middlin came out, girl started recording them with her phone, i asked how they got a camera phone in because when i had mine the security guys made me check it with my coat, the girl said something like its my birthday im special, the security guys saw her and others and said nothing i thought hell im going to go to the coat check and get my phone and bring it in when serj came out i hurried and tried to get a pic with the phone and as soon as i took it out the security guy came over and said look lady either put the phone away or ill take it from you i said holy fuck look around everyone there that had a camera phone was recording or taking pix of serj, he said i dont see them but i sure as hell see you. if not for the fact that i have an iphone id have let the guy take it then i would have complained but hell i paid over 500$ for my phone i wasnt going to risk losing it anyway other than that bullshit it was an amazing night fair to midlin was okay the singer ended every song with what looked like a seizure, but serj was great, i was later, they guys in his band are very social and when we were outside by serj's bus they came over and signed autographs and posed for pictures with the fans that were there we waited until 230 a.m. for serj to come out but his drummer said he wasnt feeling well, and by then we were all frozen it was cold that night. i hope serj comes back again soon |

Dude seeing Serj is amazing, and i KNOW you had a great night. But your fellow audience members do have a huge influence on how you remember events like this. When I saw Serj in Norfolk, there were the most obnoxious kids all around me the entire night and in the first time in my life, I wanted to kill someone. The kid wouldn't stop talking about how cool he was just because he gets drunk and his dad is in jail. It was really annoying and depressing, actually. He was right behind me, and talking SO loud before Fair to Midland came on. I finally went away after Fair to Midland because "Serj sucks so bad!" That wasn't very fun.
And halfway through Serj's set, a mentally retarded man in his early twenties pushed his way to the front barricade where I was and started touching my face and copying everything I did. Everytime I put my hand out, he would do the same. Everytime I screamed, he leaned over the screamed in my ear. His arm was about twice as long as mine, so everytime Serj came to the front of the stage I would put my hand out and so would this guy. But his arm was practically touching Serj. And he kept putting me in a headlock and I could hardly breathe at some points. All I wanted to do was watch Serj in peace. I am ALL for the fair treatment of the handicapped, but I have rights too. I dunno.
But I definately feel your pain, denise, about how the people nearby can screw up the memory of an excellent event.
And I hope Serj is okay! |
