It seems that Serjs Political ramblings have finally worn too thin for many, now that hes left System he doesnt have the shield of invincibility that he once had to speak his mind.
Whilst I love the guy, and I like his new solo album, in the u.k we do not wish to be told what to think. Especially left wing liberal politics which really wear thin on us these days.
It was this very reason ,plus some robotic stage dancing that led Serj to be booed off during his set at Sheffield Arena on November the 12th!
The songs themselves were fine and dandy and played out well and his singing was great, the problem lay with the simple fact, people especially in the u.k do not want to hear anti war, anti bush, anti establishment sentiments over and over, it gets contrived.
The album itself lyrically is predictably leftist politically, but once more, as I did with Soads genius I completely ignored most lyrics to get to the great music. But there are times when they try to force these ideas into you that you get annoyed, and Im afraid Serj will start to find out that if he wants to be enjoyed on his tours hes got to tone down all the speeches and political ravings, because no-one actually cares what he has to say about that, we just want to hear his great music!
It was a shame to see him get booed off, almost surreal.

Well, sucks for you, but Serj isn't just going to stop writing about what he believes, in the way he wants to, to please wankers like the people who booed him off stage. It's you not anyone's loss except the ones who don't want to hear it. But, I've read reviews of the show on the 12th, I don't recall anyone mentioning him being booed off. Nobody is telling you what to think. You perceive the song the way you wish, and obviously certain people don't know how to do that instead of taking the lyrics literally. He didn't force anything on anyone, but booing him to the point where he leaves the stage is uncalled for. And as a Foo fan, I can say most Foo fans are fucking tight-asses anyway, so this isn't too surprising. But, a lot of their fans think they're the epitome of lyrical genius, so . By the way, I know certain people who actually enjoyed his set, so congratulations to them for ruining it for those guys, I guess?
PS: So, do you have anyone else who can back-up that he was booed off and it's not just that his set ended, or should I solely take your word for it? |

Sorry in my post I didnt mean he was booed off mid way I mean when he finished it he was Booed off.
Bear in mind I love Serj so I'm not supporting the booing, Im trying to give an unbiased reason as to why it happened.
Can you link me to these other reviews I would like to read them.

Oh, okay then. Either way, it's still messed up people would do that. But didn't he perform a song in the encore with the Foos at the Shef gig? Am I going crazy? Wonder if he even wanted to do it with them after that incident.
Yeah, I found them on the Foo-board - well, I skimmed through them. The only thread I can find at the moment is this one where they did say some people complained about him. It may be unbiased, but it's sad people can't see beyond the lyrics if they don't like the literal meaning and base it around their own life - it's what I try to do. |

| That is so mean! I can't believe he was "booed" off!!!A person has the right to speak his or her mind, and if people do not want to hear about it and show respect to the artist . . why attend their concert!? I feel so sorry for Serj . . . that is seriously dis-respect to the max! |

Well, since it technically wasn't his concert, you can't really make that a point. HOWEVER, I do agree with you. Everyone (read: most people) should be shown respect, whether they like what he was saying or not. Besides, he wasn't just singing about war, he said the theme was about the end of civilization - a very broad theme, but a very serious one - that affects every single person alive right now. Whatever, it's their rather stupid choice. They don't have to like it, but they don't have to be dicks about it, either. |

Hmm . . . but seriously . . that is so mean! How would they feel if they were singing their hearts out about something they believed in and people said it was crap and began booing!? I think Serj deserves a letter of apology |

| Did Dave Grohl say anything? Seems they've become pretty good friends lately. |

| I'd like to know that as well. People didn't talk about the booing much, they just said people whined about him. Which, again, is why I'm a bit surprised that Serj came out to perform with them afterwards. Surprised, because if it was planned ahead of time, a bit taken aback that Dave didn't say fuck it, we won't do the song and it's their loss. And again, I wonder if Serj even wanted to come out when he was called, because I notice it took him longer to come out at Sheffield than it did in Manchester. But I saw the setlist, don't remember if it was under "encore" or not. Either way, it takes balls to perform for a crowd that seems to hate you. They should just consider themselves lucky I wasn't there, heads would've been rolling. |
