Well, since no one's really posting "fan" reviews these days, thought I'd post this "professional" one from the Cardiff show on Tuesday (November 13th).
I've only posted the intro and the Serj/FCC review. Click on the link to read the review of the Foo Fighters' set.
Review: Foo Fighters
Nov 14 2007

The Foo Fighters are the Stepford Wives of rock.
They are everything you want a big band to be; they look great, sound great, give their absolute all to satisfy and are capable of producing, as on All My Life, some perfect moments in rock.
But their perfection is somehow creepy.
However, the total opposite of their mainstream-approved commercial rock was illustrated by the support slot from Serj Tankian.
The System Of A Down frontman, on his first solo tour, played Armenian flavoured circus-metal in white top hat and tails.
His nuclear opera voice is a genuine weapon, his songs possess some big hooks and he had fun with music from his solo album Elect The Dead.
But he’s best characterised by Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition, a song that tosses all his mental extremes into the air and lets them clatter to the floor in an a-rhythmic mess.
He followed it with a cover of The Beatles’ Girl.
He is an entertainer, but a man of absurdly messy moments and a total contrast to the Foos’ consistency.

^^Why would I be complaining? I've seen the show....twice
I was just making an observation not registering a grievance
(Can't wait to read your review!! Have a great time at the show! ) |

It appears to me that not many System/Serj fans got tickets for the Foo shows because most of them were sold out already before it was announced that Serj would fill the supporting slot.
Anyway, looking forward to reading Skit's review.
And ofcourse thanks for posting this one Sugar! 'Circus metal' indeed! |

Yeah, unless you already bought Foo Fighters tickets before hand you had little chance of being able to get any.
As you said, the Foo Fighters tickets sold out long before we knew Serj was supporting.
Most people wanting to see Serj would have got tickets for his Solo shows. |

"Armenian-flavored Circus Metal".
Thanks for the link, Sugar! I guess one of the writer's points was that the Foos are a bit on the commercial side, and Serj is a bit the opposite. Cool. Mainstream vs artsy. I'm hopeful Serj would approve of this characterization.
I'm still curious as to how exactly Serj & the FCC pared their setlist as openers for the Foo Fighters on this tour. The show Skit reviewed was a Serj/FCC headliner opened by FTM, right? So, has anyone actually got the setlist for Serj from one of the Foo-opening gigs? |

No luck on this end, Lin. I've been searching everywhere, can't find shit. Foo-board doesn't have anything, since their fans don't know Serj's songs. Checked Serj's board and nobody mentioned what he played (I don't think, I just skimmed through the topics), and Google does nothing. Will post it when I find it.
EDIT: Oh... wait. Well his Sheffield audio is in the download forum, and he was a support on that date. So that's one of the sets he played, assuming he changed it around a bit on different dates. |

As far as I remember from last night:
*** Intro/Reverand King ***
1. Unthinking Majority
2. Empty Walls
3. Feed Us
4. Lie Lie Lie
5. Saving Us
6. Baby
7. Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition
8. Honking Antelope
9. Money
10. Beethoven's C***
(Not Totally Sure- I know he played every song apart from Elect The Dead). I'm just in the process of writing a review. |

Thank you for the confirmation, AVM. I was curious about that as well, whether he played ETD. Doubt he played it at any other shows either. Looking forward to your review. |
