That's a good theory, I've been thinking somewhere along the lines of that myself. I imagined the "I'm your brother, your brother..." part could possibly mean he just sees her as a friend.. I guess we'll never know what he actually thought with it  |

I never though t of that part that way, that was the part I wasn't so sure about. |

| I still think the theory about it being the relationship between Iraq and America makes a lot of sense. But I don't like it that way, so I came up with my own interpretation of the song. I'm happy with that. |

| Yeah, I prefer it as something non-political...it really pisses me off when I go to lyric meaning website and every Serj song HAS to be political...it's like "Well I think Sky is over is about the relationship of the government and Bush and..." I just want to go up to them and say "Politics isn't the only thing Serj thinks about, you know!" |

Ooh, I had a sad little thought about the meaning of this song today. I was looking at my 2007 System calendar, in the waning days of its usefulness. It's a bit sad, seeing the 4 guys lined up on stage after their last gig together before the hiatus, taking their final bow.....
And then Lie Lie Lie started going through my head....
Baby, my baby, let me go, because you love me, you love me, let me go........take my hand and let's end it all....
I was thinking that Serj had a long relationship with the band (his lover) and he wanted/needed to make this break to do his own thing, so he tricked his lover into suicide. In a sense, the hiatus.
I don't know. Probably just a random interpretation colored by my own sense of loss. Anyway, discuss this one too if you like. |

Wow, I never thought of it that way. It makes a lot of sense, especially when he says,
"Cuz I'm your brother, your brother" because that part makes no sense with my interpretaion.
I think I agree with your idea the most, even more than mine. |

Okay.... why? Because he says "Im your brother"? Hmm.. I dont know... I dont think its about politics and I also dont think its about SOAD because to me, that would mean Serj is kinda happy about "killing" SOAD and Im sure thats not the point...
I agree with those who interpret it as a sad love story. A woman who declares she is in love with him but hes not and he also feels shes not telling the truth about her feelings anyway...
Serj is the only one who really knows what he thought of when writing it anyway  |
