Hey all,
So yesterday, beautiful day Because Serj was in Amsterdam, here in the small country Holland...
Who of you have been there?
It really was a great performance, let's start from the begin...
1920 hours: We were waiting for Fair to Midland...
1940 hours: Still waiting
1941 hours: Still waiting
2000 hours: A lot of smoke, and then.. FAIR TO MIDLAND!!!
I really thought they sucked.. I don't like their songs etc. but I like Dance of the Manatee, and that was the last song they played -_-"
A lot of people were like.. WTF!!! GIMME SERJ!! XD But hey.. The longer we were waiting.. The more exciting Serj would be..
±2040 hours: They're rebuilding the stage.. waiting again
±2050-2100 hours: YES He's there.. Serj.. man I still can't believe I've seen him live He was really great I don't remember the whole setlist.. but still, he started with The Unthinking Majority and then Empty Walls which were really great live!
So from now on I lost my count.. I dunno which came after this.. Because We Pulled Mosh Pits all the time -_-" which I really.. hated cuz I wanted to enjoy the show, and not to be squashed.. really, no! The people who did this and will read this: YOU RUINED THE SHOW FOR ME.. because, I lost my GF (no we didnt break up but I mean in the show ) and another friend of mine.. and we were 3-4 metres from the stage, but after the mospits we were 5-6 metres from the stage, which made a big difference for me cuz I didn't had my Glasses with me -_-'
Further, he did Holiday, Charades (rock version) and some other song which I don't know the title of... XD
It reallly was a great performance even with the mosh pits..
I think Serj is really good live, and still, I can't believe I've seen him
He had some humour too.. When he introduced the band to us, he said: "We started to call this guy: Spacecake" which was the bassguitar I thought
BTW, does someone has some good pictures?? because I don't, cuz of all the moshes and because I was 5-6 metres from the stage |

Damn, the show totally rocked! Personally I loved FTM, I think they did a great show, including all of Darroh's 'electrocution'-style movements. Poor guy nearly lost his voice during Dance of the Manatee, but made it through the song. I'm not quite sure which other songs they did, but I'd say they did about 7 songs, all of the Fables album.
Obviously Serj fucking rocked! I was about 10-15 meter from the stage, on the steps on the side. I have no idea on the order of the songs either (might still get a digital setlist sent to me), but I know he played every song of the album, plus as Yuma already said Holiday in Cambodia, rock Charades and the Beatles cover Girl, which was excellent! I do know the encore consisted of Money, Girl & Elect the Dead.
During the show Erwin, the keyboardist (who I've been talking to through MS), spotted Simon & me in the crowd. He put his up thumb and stuck out his tongue. Later on we had another moment where he waved at us.
During the introduction round, Serj indeed called bassplayer 'Super' Mario "Spacecake Mario" for the occasion. After Erwin played the intro to Money in the wrong key, Serj told him "you fucking stoner" as well, which made Erwin giggle.
Ofcourse Serj told us that we were a fucking amazing crowd. Luckily he didn't say that they hadn't played Money during other gigs, or I would've shouted out that he was lying!
There were lots of funny moments during the show, they were clearly enjoying themselves, which was great to see. I loved being able to see Serj's facial expressions and I bet the girls in the front row didn't mind the occasional look under his shirt either. Mario & Erwin were taking pics & filmed the crowd a few times.
After the show fellow SOADFan Hanjza came over to me and we talked for a little bit, before we got our coats and went outside. Talked to a very charming Canadian for a bit and then waited for the band to come out.
After about 40 mins Erwin came outside, I called his name and he said "hey, I was looking for you!" We went over to the front door area and talked for almost half an hour, took a bunch of pics and he signed my copy of Elect the Dead. As we were talking to him two guys from FTM came outside as well. One of them quickly walked away again, but I did have my pic taken with Darroh.
When Erwin went back inside (after a dozen of hugs) he said he'd tell Serj to make sure to have his picture taken with me, because they weren't sure how many people they'd allow. There was only about 20 people waiting anyway, but it was kinda rainy.
I guess about half an hour later we were still waiting, I was talking to Hanjza and her friends when a piece of paper was shoved in my face. It was a personal note from Serj! Erwin had come back to hand me that note. I wanted to hug him again, but then he kissed me on my cheek. =)
He then also said the band had left through the back of the venue, that Serj wouldn't show up anymore, so Simon, his wife, Erwin & I walked out of the small alley and a few streets further up said goodbye with wishes of a safe journey and another big hug. |

I didn't take pics of the show, tried to take a pic during FTM and that looked horrible. I only really have a pic of the background! But because my socialising skills were on a high last night I'll probably be able to get some decent or even good quality pics soon anyway. |

The note says "Hello, I hope you had a good time tonight! Peace Serj" among some more personal things that I'd like to keep to myself. It was written on the back of a band schedule note from the Astoria gig last Thursday.
And yes, Erwin IS a nice guy! |
