Hello,

found this site the other day when i was trying to find some info on Shavo's bass setup Smile

I first heard system of a down in a tattoo and piercing shop about 5 years ago, i asked the cool young dudes ( i am 32 now) behind the counter who it was, and immediately went around the corner to an indie record shop and got SOAD and Toxicity Smile

my wife and i have loved the music ever since and when i heard Mezmerize, System over took Primus as my all time favorite band!

I have been playing in covers gigs for a few years and this year I formed a one off System Tribute, basically because i had some friends who also love System and played the right instruments to form a squad.

We finally located a drummer and threw together a set of Chopsuey, Spiders, Forest, Aerials and Toxicity.

the people at the gig loved it, even though we went badly wrong in some places because the main 2 guitarists both had nasty accidens the week before and i had a frantic search for standins to keep the show on the road.

the gig is here: play all five on this link:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=axKFfUKX5 ... playnext=1

We have got a new drummer, and one of the original Guitarists has recovered from his motorbike accident, and we are now preparing for another gig, again in Leicester, UK, this time on dec 14th.

I'd really appreciate constructive criticism from fellow SOAD fans, even if you think we sucked!

Cheers

Simon - Sudonim.

yeah this is the audio just from the jvc camcorder.

I am waiting for the audio from the guy with the room mics and the Dat recorder. Now the project has become regular, the giant fellow (6'6" Simon)is doing all the lead vocals - the one who did high "the trust in my" bit after the "Fathers!" and the lead Vox on our version of Forest etc. Thanks for the feedback guys, we know we'll never match the geniuses that are SOAD, but we'll have lot of fun and hopefully our audiences will enjoy a bit o SOAD Smile

Did you guys check out all 5 songs?

We are concentrating on the new drummer and getting the 5 new songs moving, then the big fella, who is a chior teacher, is going to start training the rest of us up so we can do the dual Daron/Serj vocals justice.

We are practicing for a gig on dec 14th, doing same 5 songs and 5 more new ones...bit frightened by the sheer speed and ferocity of BYOB, but we're going to give it a go.

Thats cool,
my old Soad cover band had a decent setlist touching songs from s/t to toxicity to steal this album and some unreleased shit (mez/hyp hadnt come out yet by the time the band ended) and no matter how great the guitar, bass and drum is, ppl who arent musicians will instantly point fingers and criticize about the singer, its always been that way! You either gotta have a great mimic of a voice or just have your own voice to cover with which gives it a good twist.. just not too much.

LOL! Hardly stars! we're all too old to be making our way in the music business now...we all have fikds, mortgages and car loans to pay off Smile we all love system, so we play some of their songs amongst other things. For the gi in may we are doing System, with some Sepultura, Pantera, 36 CrazyFists, Faith No More and Maybe a Slayer Song too Smile Its my birthday, so i am picking the covers Smile

Well the december gig went well folks.. my daughter was born at 8am on the day of the ig, so i had 2 hours sleep in 36 hours,, then went off at 7pm leaving my poor tired wife holding the baby, and the systm tribute gig was awesome! everyone loved it, wanted us to do more gigs.. and then the drummer split up with his girlfriend and moved out of town!

I finally located a new drummer last week, and one of the guitrists then said he couldn;t manage another poject... fortunately the drummer has a guitaring friend... so me and the singer are driving over on tuesday to have a jam with these two new guys.... so i should get us a gig in august, and i jhust need to save up for a new video cmacorder as the old one is broken... and i should have some new quality covers to put up Smile better go and re-learn BYOB and MR Jack :¬!
