Okay I see what you guys are saying it doesn't make sense that it would be pointing to the IE file and adobe reader... wtf does that have to do with soadfans?? but there is still something very fishy here. Mostly because I don't use IE... ever, and i certainly haven't opened any adobe reader files in it. Also, I do have a legit copy of Adobe Reader, but it hasn't been updated in a while (doing that now).
The main reasons i'm so suspicious is because this has never happened before on this system... Nothing was running besides firefox... not ie, not adobe.. AND Everything was cool until I went to close the Clicksor ad!! Soon as i clicked on the X to close the ad -> adobe blew up, and mcafee is bitching because it found 2 trojans... Anyone's first reaction is going to be: okay that ad just fucked me in the ass. right? maybe thats just me
do the popup ads have anything to with adobe? lol i really want to figure this out...
this is what the first thing says... does that help at all?? probably not.

delete Trojans, and see if that helps, they may not have nothing to do crashing ff. How many times your com have crashed like that.. once?
woot I found out on Monday what ad is crashing my ff if I press skip this add (or whatever it is).. yay I took a screenshot....
but crashing is not annoying me anymore |

Well the second image isnt loading so I cant comment on that...
You might have acquired a virus/trojan etc somewhere else and that is causing the crashing.
Do a full system scan for viruses and spyware see if anything else comes up.
Do you use msn messenger?
Thats linked to IE so if you've been sent files through there you might have got a virus etc that way... |

| nope don't use msn. googletalk beta, but i doubt that would be linked to IE. It was only the first time i clicked the x that i crashed, hasn't happened since. |

adobe works fine now.. did a full system scan and it turned up nothing. but the fact of the matter is i had no trojans and no problem with adobe crashing until the moment i clicked on that ad! isn't that significant somehow? i understand there's no link between the advertiser and adobe reader but... cmon wouldn't you be suspicious too?
perhaps im looking too much into it... hah the whole point of me coming here was to talk about system, so im going to go do that instead of trying to figure this out.
thanks for the help tho guys, it's much appreciated! |

Well, I was just browsing the forums....
this popped up: sorry about the big size in advance:
Came after a pop-up ad with a fishy looking empty adobe reader popped up... It looks similar to what that guy had up there. I'd say it's more than coincidence that we both just ran into the same problem.
I am 100% sure it was a popup from this site with a strange, empty, small adobe reader popup. |
