DUDE, THE CONCERT FUCKING OWNED ME!!!
That was the BEST way to lose my concert virginity. It opened with Fair to Midland, and some guy and his friends kept starting a mosh pit and after they were done (it was fucking sweet!) him and this other guy almost got in a fight because of the moshing and I was yelling (since they were near by) "DUDES! It's a Serj Tankian concert! Serj is non-violent and anti-war! If you all are fans, why would you fight?!" ANd I heard some people agree with me and there was no fight, but when Serj came on stage, HOLY SHIT. I thought I was going to pee my pants! Everyone fucking flocked toward the stage even more and when the riff for The Unthinking Majority started, MOSH PIT ALL OVER AGAIN!!! Everyone was fucking jumping and screaming and singing along (a lot of people didn't know FTM, but I did so I sang along ) and he did his little in between song commentary and smiled and bowed and took off his top hat and oh my gawd, I do believe he is Jesus Christ resurrected. He even did his little dances!!! And he sang like, four songs not off his album! He sang Charades (which he made back in 2005 for the Axis of Justice concert, but played it with all the instruments instead of just a piano and I guess not a lot of people knew that song either, except me ) and he played a song NO ONE ELSE HAD HEARD, SO WE WERE THE FIRST!!! And he played a Beatles song and Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys. For an ender, after leaving the stage and turning off all the lights and after all, we were chanting for an encore, he came out and did those two and two other songs for the album. He ended it with Elect the Dead and everyone put up their lighter or cell phone.
And that was my first concert |

"oh my gawd, I do believe he is Jesus Christ resurrected"
That's about how I felt when I first saw him I'm glad you had such a great time! It's cool how you lost your concert virginity and your Serjinity at the same show |

We're trying to find out the name of it, stay tuned. Or maybe someone will catch it in these next few shows. I think it might have the word "war" in the title. It was kind of a jazzy improv-y sounding thing and I believe his band the FCC maybe helped create it? It kind of became a background for a passionately spoken poem, something about bombs falling on children & stuff.
It was really a great show. I enjoyed it more than the first Serj show in Chicago last October, myself. There were actually 3 songs I hadn't seen before (counting Girl and Money) and I thought the venue was nicer. Fair to Midland were indeed a terrific opening act, and Serj & the FCC were on top of their game. I'd recommend for everyone who possibly can to go see them! |

The new song was called "(Sounds of War) Jam"
Full setlist (thanks, Tasha!):
The Unthinking Majority
Empty Walls
Feed Us
Lie Lie Lie
Saving Us
Baby
Sky is Over
PTLAPTA
Charades
(Sounds of War) Jam
Honking Antelope
Holiday in Cambodia
Beethoven's Cunt
Money
Girl
Elect The Dead (Serj Only)
GREAT fucking show!!! Serj was so much fun as usual! The setlist had a bit more added to it from the promo tour last year. MONEY!! Finally I got to see it live!! It was worth the wait! The FCC were playing even tighter than last tour. They're all so freakin' talented!
I had so much fun with some of my girls from the Penguin Brigade! HAHAHA
Serj wasn't seeing fans after this show. But after the show, we did get to meet Cliff, Darroh (sweetie!), and Brett from FTM. (P.S. Darroh gives great hugs...and lots of them!)
I spoke with Isaac Flores forever (!!)...he's touring with FTM now as their official tour documentarian
We said hello to Super (Always on the Phone) Mario.
And of course we hung out and chatted for a long time with our lovely friend, Erwin
Such a wonderful time with my sisters and all the great fans and band guys! |
