I really wish that I could tell you how AMAZING the show was right now,
but I'm not even sopossed to be online right now cuz I stayed home from school today.
But I went with Austyn [GanjaEgoBrain] and I would love if she put her review
EDIT:::
Finally got off my lazy ass and wrote a review.
Enjoy as you read, my lovely story
So finally,
my review.
I don't remember the set list well,
but I got this one off of the show 2 days before mine so I'm pretty sure it's the same list.
Sounds of War
Empty Walls
Feed Us
Money
Lie Lie Lie
Saving Us
Sky is Over
Baby
PTLAPTA
Charades
Honking Antelope
Holiday in Cambodia
Beethoven's Cunt
Girl
Encore:
The Unthinking Majority
Elect The Dead
So, I get there RIGHT at 8 o' clock when Fair to Midland started playing Walls of Jericho.
I parted with my dad and his girlfriend who went up to the balcony cuz they are lame
Anyway, so I ran to the front row, where I was sopossed to meet Austyn[GanjaEgoBrain] and I found her within seconds. We were somewhere between 3-5 feet away from the stage.
Fair to Midland did awesome. Darroh was definitely my favorite. His energy on stage was just amazing. He would always poor water all over himself, then do this totaly freak out dance thing that would fill the stage with mist. Everyone else did pretty good, but they didn't interact with the crowd at all really. Not too many people were into them sadly, I think they did awesome.
Anyway, they only played like 5 or so songs until they left the stage.
It was really cool tho, cuz they tossed off their water bottles, and Austyn's mom caught one haha.
We got to drink out of it too very refreshing haha.
Then all of the tech guys and set guys came out and started switching everything around and making sure everything worked. It seemed like they were out there as long as FtM was lol.
Definitely the slowest part of the night. Me and Austyn had realized that within minutes Serj would be right there in front of us.
And then he finally came! After 2 different chants, [at this point I must add that Serj's name has to be one of the hardest names to chant EVER]
He started with Sounds of War, I guess. I had never heard it before, I just stole the set list from a previous show. It was very mellow, and Serj hadn't said a word, they just started playing. He would not look at the crowd, for some odd reason. He just did his thing. But the second the song was over he looked up at us all and smiled. Everyone flipped haha. Serj then picked up a cup that was half empty with some wine in it. He took a drink then said, "Fine Oregon wine "
Empty Walls came on next. Everyone went haywire! Everyone bum rushed the front if they hadn't already when Serj first came out. Everyone jumped and screamed and sang along. There was so much activity that the floor was even bouncing! Scared the crap outta me lol. It was played AMAZINGLY. I was blown away.
Next came Feed Us. All I really remember from this song was how hypnotized I was by it's beauty. It's one of my favorite songs off the album as well, so I really enjoyed it. People were somewhat calm for this song, thank god.
Then came MONEY. It was intense haha. During the beginning everyone went crazy. Soooooo much moshing behind me. I remember that's when me and Austyn really started getting crushed, us being pretty much the 2 shortest people there.
"Have any of you guys seen Borat??" says Serj. The crowd bounces with whoops and yells. "Veddi nice!" Serj mimics Borat and chuckles. "But how many of you guys seen, Romeo and Juliet??" A lot less whoops come from the crowd, a boo or two. "Well what if we got both of them together, and made them SUCK EACHOTHER!!!!!" the crowd erupts as the intro to Lie Lie Lie starts.
People really went crazy for Lie Lie Lie, it being a big favorite of fans. Lots of moshing and such. I think this is probably Serj's best live song.
Saving Us. This is when Serj brought out his loverly guitar, which he played with Daron's pic, which made me feel warm inside haha. Saving Us was so wonderfully played, it pissed me off that so many people went agro during the chorus. To me it was always one of the softer songs of the album, and to me they weren't respecting that so I got pissed.
Sky is Over got almost as much attention as Lie Lie Lie did. And just like every other song, it was wonderfully played. Sky is Over is actually one of my least favorites of the album, but I think hearing it live has raised it up a few bars Not to much moshing during this one but plenty were singing along.
Awwwww, Baby. Once again I was caught off guard by how much everyone flipped for this song. So much shoving and pushing haha. This song was like Sky is Over, in a sense that when I first went there it was one of my least favs but after hearing it live it was a whole different story. Serj did an awesome job with his guitar, I must say. I was impressed.
For PTLAPTA, there was an intro that I can't quote directly, but I remember we all chanted Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition along with his Serjyness. This song sounded awesome with all the insturments going on. Awesome song
Charades rocked my socks off! I personally like the piano version better but this was certainly agreeable! I don't think very many people knew about the song, cuz no one really sang along besides me and Austyn, as far as I can remember. I remember everyon freaking out for the "find me a red bag" part.
Honking Antelope. This is where everything went right and wrong at the same time. At the near beginning of this song a few very-rude-6feettall+-assholes stole me and Austyn's spot. We couldn't see shit. So eventually we decided to attempt to get out of the main crowd so we could see and enjoy more. I remember asking this big buff guy to help us make a path, and he didn't say anything so I turned and started to follow Austyn, when I feel someone tugging on my leg. So I turn to look and the big dude had hold of me and then lifted me up into the main crowd. The next thing I knew I was up there crowd surfing! Which was absolutely amazing. The security guys eventually lifted me outta there and quickly showed me my way to the back. After this, me and Austyn couldn't find eachother again. So I walked around while listening to Serj play beautifully, as he always does. Eventually I picked a spot that I could see and hear well enough, but at this point the song was over. Amazingly played <3 I'll never forget that song.
Holiday in Cambodia rocked. I was the only one in the back singing along tho, so I felt kind of like an outsider. But I did not give a shit at that point lol.
Beethoven's Cunt, my all time favorite Serj song. It took my fucking breath away. Serj sang with such passion that just sent shivers down my spine. I love that song so much, and am kind of glad I wasn't in the front for it cuz if I was I wouldn't have been able to hear/see as well as I did to the side.
Girl. This was the first time I had heard that song, and I think Serj performed it better than The Beatles would, but idk cuz I haven't heard it haha.
After Girl, they started to leave the stage. Everyone chanted his name again, and not to long after They came right back out and started Unthinking Majority, which is definitely one of my favorite live songs EVER! Was played wonderfully, just like every other song.
Elect the Dead. Serj had asked everyone to be quiet for it, and while most of us shut the fuck up in respect, a few still screamed like idiots. So Serj said, "that's not quiet" in a slightly aggravated tone. Which shut them up Everyone took out their lighters and cell phones for this one haha. It was so lovely. Sent shivers down my spine and gave me goosebumps. A few blasphamers sang along, but the better fans told them to shut the fuck up and put them in their place.
Unfortunatly, my dad was lame and didn't let me wait by the buses, so we left right afterward.
And that was my amazing experience in seeing Serj live.

Mine? Oh golly gee.
What can I say? Can words truly describe it?
We Were about a yard away from Serj for A little over 3/4 of the concert, If we wanted he was in touching distance. Hey I just realized something..He pretty much opened with Empty Walls like I said he might.
Anyway, Serj was up there talking about our Fine Oregon Wine and our Fine Oregon Dank
That still makes me happy, that he loved our city so much.
BTT Serj danced like crazy the whole time even though he has been sick recently. His singing sounded just like his album, unlike a lot of bands when they play live.
He played all the songs on his album, Plus a few songs that he Recently wrote? He also sang "Holiday in Cambodia" By the Dead Kennedy's. Which was an almost dead on Cover of the original song.
The FCC got their First Bra thrown at them from one of Oregons Sexy ladies.
I got my Shirt signed by Erwin, Tony and Mario. Serjyness didn't come out of his tour bus he was afraid of getting sick.
But I chatted it up with Erwin(Possibly the sweetest man on the planet.) For about an hour or more after the show. Got my picture taken with him, and met some really amazing people that came from all over to see Serj play. |

It was a great Review.
It made me giggle the whole time and smile a lot.
Reliving that concert was Ahhh! I can't wait for him to come back.
If he does you know who's coming with me!
But second time around I think you'll be more prepared for that barrage of people and we will let NO ONE steal our spot. |
