Please donīt hang me for this. I couldnt post my interpretation to other Sky is over topics, cause I felt like trespasser.
But, to the point:
To me, this song is about person1 (P1) and person 2 (P2) talking with each other. P1 is seriously ill (cancer or so) and P2 is explaining how he feels and what are hes/hers thoughts.
Everybody knows,
Everybody knows,
That you cradle the sun, sun
Living in remorse,
Sky is over,
P2 Explains how everybody knows that P1 is sick even that P1 is trying to hide and cradle the sickness. P2 sees how P1 is Living in remorse because he/she doesnt want to worry his/hers friends/family. He/she dosent want to be the cause of their grieve. Line Sky is over is clearly about how this sickness is destroying their life as it used to be, and how itīs never going to be the same again.
Dont you want to hold me baby,
Disappointed, going crazy,
P1 tryes to push P2 away from him/her, away from his/hers life because this reason (already mentionet) he/she doesnt want to P2 hurts him/her self if something bad happens to P1. This makes P2 Sad, dissappointed and makes him/her going crazy, though he/she knows deep inside why P1 is doing that.
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
I dont want to see you go,
The sky is over
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
Pretty selfevident? P2 Feels that he cant live if P1 dies, and how hard is it that this sickness is chancing their lifes so throughly. P2 Doesnt want to see how P1 dies. Also about how they need their life to stay simple, safe and familiar, but how all that is over.
Behind closed eyes lie
The minds ready to awaken you,
Are you at war with land
And all of its creatures,
Your not-so-gentle persuasion
Has been known to wreck economies
Of countries, of empires, the sky is over,
Getting harder to explain my point of view. First two lines are P2 trying to harp on that every one is willing to help P1. Next two lines are about P2 questioning P1 attitude, why is He/She trying to get everyone around her/him dissappear. Last three, I dont really know how to put this, but its like, how P1s way of acting in situtation like that is well known, but itīs still working.
Dont you want to hold me baby,
Disappointed, going crazy,
Same as before.
Not even from the sun,
Not even from the sun
Not even from the sun,
Dont you want me to run,
This is P1 talking. Sun doesnt mean the sickness anymore, itīs just symbol for greater power/spirit. He/She have gave up all hope of healing, and tryes to explain that to P2. Even a miracle wouldnt help P1 anymore.
Last line is about how P1 is in so much pain and suffering that he/she doesnt see how P2 could want him/her to geep on fighting. P1 just wants the pain to finally end, so he/she could run free.
Even though you cant afford
The sky is over,
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
I dont want to see you go,
The sky is over
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
I dont want to see you go,
The sky is over
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
I dont want to see you go,
The sky is over
Even though we cant afford
The sky is over,
The sky is over us.
This last line is after P1s dead. P2 feels how weight of memories of moments spented with P1 are on his/hers shoulders. How thous days are like a felt over them.
Thats about it. My very first proper interpretation. Im not saying this is what sky is over is really about, but this is what it is for me. Hope ya got something out of my not-so-goos explaining. |
