As far as a Floyd Rose goes... you have to be careful with them. If you're not using them properly, it could warp your guitar or even break. You also have to be careful with retuning, if you retune quite often that could lead to a warped guitar neck. If most of the people on here retune quite often, I highly recommend getting a second guitar without a Floyd Rose.
Yes, it's true. Most people who use the FR only use them for solos or for quick vibratos. However, some rhythm players(only if they like to experiment) could use them for expressive riffs too i.e. Mark Knopfler
Paul Gilbert for example use to have FR on most of his guitars, but now he filled the hole with a block of wood. He's mentioned his reason for not using a whammy bar. "Prefer vibratos through the fingers."
Either way, people have their opinions about FR's. I pretty much decided my second guitar will be one with a FR. |

There's some instructions on how to block a Floyd Rose there. It lets you use it just like a fixed bridge. And it's easy to fix back as well. |

I got my latest guitar for $180 on ebay brand new (It was a B-Stock... apparently there's something wrong with the finish on the back but I don't see anything...) ... it's a Jay Turser

Mines brownish red though... for the price, plays beautifully. If you really want it to sound awesome, all you gotta do is replace the pickups (though the standard ones are fine)
Stays in tune pretty well too, and I change tuning every ten minutes when practicing
edit: BTW, my next guitar will be an eastwood more than likely...

maybe a baritone too... |

It´s kinda shitty that Eastwood wanted to sell the red Airline guitar (that originaly is made of plastic) as a Jack White Model without asking Jack.^^
But apart from that, the idea of reanimating rare and old guitars is great, some attempts are nice, but others (Stormbird.WTF) are kinda dumb.
I´m getting a Gibson soon,hopefully this week.
It´s a SG special with three pick-ups and worn alpine white finish. |
