This has probably been talked about before. But I am too lazy to search for any topic that possibly has this. Oh well.
Why is it that most people seem to go either one way or the other on the God Vs. Evolution argument? "O hai, God mayd it, k?" "lol na, it r evolvd frum *something*" "WUT NO U CRAZY" "LOLNOU" "STPD ATHIEZT" "LOLXTIAN".
Is it hard to maybe imagine both? Or at least consider that possibility, instead of being all "LOLURNAWTRITE"? |

| I was just thinking about that exact thing the other day. It seems like everyone has picked on or the other, and we not considering for a second that the other is possible. I mean, I can understand if you believe one over the other, but at least considering the possibility of the other being possible as well. Not everything has a simple one way answer. |

What I am trying to say is that most people see this as a "black & white" argument. It's either you believe that God created all life, or that you believe everything evolved from something. No one seems to consider the possibility that maybe the things that God created evolved. |

Yeah, that's the way I see it, not really sure about the whole 'God' thing, but I think there was definitely something else at work when creatures first appeared and such. I mean, what did the originally life forms on the earth evolve from that lead to the evolution that took place? It's kind of like a 'which came first, the chicken or the egg' sorta thing. |

Aye. When I say God, I don't necessarily mean the Christian God. I just mean 'higher powers' in general. |

That's what I believe actually. |

What concerns me FAR more than the "pick a side" issue is that we've narrowed down the possibility of existence to just these 2 things in the first place. It is rather egotistical to me for humans to say they know, and/or understand the origins of how we got here, which EVER side they pick (or even if they pick both). It's disturbing to me that we started out with an invisible father figure(s) being the creator of our reality to comfort and ease the psychological pain of not knowing who we are, where we came from, and what are purpose here is, to the more "intelligent" people "advancing" into the evolutionary explanation. Just as you question why people don't entertain the possibility that both of these opinions can be correct simultaneously, I question why no one puts any thought into the possibility that both are WRONG simultaneously.
In other words, when it comes to explaining our existence, how did we dry out the infinite sea of possibilities to these 2 finite drops? |

I understand what you mean here. There are lots maybe a lot more theories that people can come up with, and maybe those aren't the right one either.
The topic is only asking between these two "explanations" because they are the most popular, thus are argued about the most. |
