Well, I've been working on covering NIN's "The Downward Spiral" with some people over at UrSession, and I decided that since SOAD's self-titled album is a masterpiece I'd love to cover that album....

The members of this project are as follows:

Art_is_resistance: Serj
Skit: Shavo
dufto: Daron
Sodomizer: John
Soadishot: Hobo who plays accordion

Peace,
AIR

Ooooh I love collaboration projects Very Happy

Could I put my name down for Bass and possible backing vocals if you need them.
Im also studying to be a sound engineer at college/uni so I'll be happy to mix the song too.

Awesome, I do recall seeing you play bass on youtube quite a while back.... So, what program do you use for mixing? I've been using Audacity for a couple years, but I've become a more serious musician in the past few months (buying a Shure SM48 Vocal mic, Jackson Dinky DKMG, and a new distortion pedal when I get home) and I need to start looking into some more sophisticated software.

I used Adobe Audition, its quite expensive if your going to buy it though.
I find Audacity far to basic, Adobe Audition has alot more editing control as well as lots of built in effects (Compressors etc).

Oh and get the SM58 microphone, its more or less the same price and its used in studios all over the world as standard.

Ok, I think I'm gonna get the Beta 58A mic, I tested them both out at a store, and I liked the sound quality better... Is anybody willing to do Drums, or guitar for this project?

I'm your drummer!!! Very Happy Very Happy

dude, I'm liking this idea. Would I record me playing to the beat of the original cd, right? thats probably the easiest way to keep in the right tempo with everyone.

I can play the guitar parts but I don't really have anything good to record with.

Dude, yeah, so hackthesystem, you got Daron vocals, and guitar down (You got recording equiptment?) Sodomizer's got drums down (Yea, I think the original tempo would be the best way) Skit's got bass, and production down, and I can do vocals.... I think we're set, we gotta have a process of doin this tho.... We could start with Suite-Pee, Sodomizer would do drums, send the file to Skit to record bass, and send the file to Hackthesystem, and then me Surprised

We'll have to send our individual instrument (and vocal) tracks to skit so he can master them.... And I think we would be playing instruments in Drop C (B would be cool with me, that's how I tune)

I think that we should record our parts to the original songs and then send them to skit, it would eliminate a lot of hassle.

And yeah, I got recording equipment, I'll be double tracking guitars for the solos and shit...

i also think we should play in drop c, we gotta stick to the originals Embarassed

Well, I like recording over instrumental tracks, and it'd come out more clean if we went in that order, I don't mind it taking a while, that's how I've been doing online collaborations, and I like to have as much polished product as I can.... Umm, my voice is lower than Serj's so I'll be doing a lot of his parts an octave lower if that's cool with you guys.

We have absolutely no intentions in what we do, whether it's live or studio. We do whatever is in our heart and we put it out there
