I'd like to dedicate this to Dika for the inspiration from one of her lost stories "Sa" Thanks, Dika.

Epilogue
The snow blew around the night air making visibility practically nil. She looked through the sight keeping her crosshairs on the lone target. Despite the cold, she was sweating under her Kevlar jacket but her gun held steady as the figure walked down the street.
“Target acquired” she announced, “Do I take the shot?”
“Negative…waiting for bluebird signal” came the voice from her two-way.
She wanted desperately to take that shot, to end this assignment and go home but she had orders and in this game you follow orders or you die. She watched the dark shadow walk across the street to the park.
“Target moving southwest into the park” she said.
From the radio she heard the rest of her team confirm the location.
“Drake? Got ‘em?”
“Affirmative, Shepard, target moving southwest. Man, this fucker’s fast!”
“Mackey, get your ass down here double time and hold Drake’s hand”
Shepard barked.
“Only if he promises me a good-night kiss, Shepard.” She joked as she quickly grabbed her gear and descended the side of the building.
Once she reached the entrance to the park, she asked, “Watchdog One at the southwest entrance. Do we have a make on bluebird’s position?”
“Affirmative, bluebird moving NE…looks like they’ll be meeting on the bridge.”
“Watchdogs: set up perimeter around that bridge…ETA five minutes.”
“Copy that, Shepard” Drake replied.
“Taeho, set up crosshairs at the north…Drake, take the south and I’ll keep the sheep in their pens.”
“Copy, Watchdog one.”
She saw what looked to be a slender man in a long trench coat stamping his feet and blowing warm breath into his hands; a futile to keep warm.
“Watchdog One has eagle eyes on the target.” She whispered into her mic. “Taeho?”
“Give me a fucking minute!” the Native American cursed, “You do realize this is a blizzard?!?”
The snow continued to swirl around the darkness making it difficult to move without detection. Finally, another dark figure arrived on the north side of the bridge. Noticeably smaller than her target, Mackey assumed that he was meeting a woman as the two began to exchange dialogue.
“Drake, do you have ears?”
“Negative, Shepard. Can’t hear a fucking thing in this storm.”
“Looks like we’re waiting for a visual.”
Suddenly, the conversation began to get heated among the two, the male target grabbed the woman by the arm in an attempt to intimidate her or prevent her from running. The wind picked up tremendously and the air became supercharged.
Mackey could barely hear her commander asking if she had the target in her sights.
“He’s going to pop!” she screamed as she broke her cover and ran to the end of the bridge.
“Oh Shit! Move! Move! Move!” She heard Shepard order. Without warning, the female figure transformed into a half-human/half spider creature and the man screamed, stumbled over his own feet attempting to run, and became paralyzed with fear.
Mackey raised her rifle and fired at the creature before she could sink her teeth into her victim. “Bluebird is the target! I repeat, BLUEBIRD IS THE TARGET!” The creature let out a piercing screech suddenly the world went black around her.
“MACK! Move!” she heard a voice scream inside her ear. An unearthly force hit her square in the chest and all the air left her lungs. She heard the creature scurrying forward to claim its prey but shots rang out and the creature screeched in pain and surprise as the darkness lifted. Mackey found herself encased in webbing.
“Great” she muttered as she unsheathed her knife and started cutting. Drake and Taeho were able to keep the spider creature busy long enough for Mackey to get free. Fury boiled through her blood as she blindly charged the creature, knife in hand like an ancient warrior woman. She jumped on the bulbous end of the drider and sank her blade into the creature’s back repeatedly while spitting out incoherent curses until the beast was dead. Mackey breathing heavy climbed off the carcass and used the snow to clean off the ichor that covered her and her blade. Taeho walked over to the man still covered in web.
“Ok, asshole, start talking.”
He stammered in German stating that he was an innocent bystander and what the hell was that thing. Blah, blah, blah. Taeho heard it all before.
“Nice try, Blutegel” as he released him and tossed him in the back of the van.
In the van, Mackey closed her eyes and sighed in relief that it was finally done. ‘Let the boys do the paperwork.’ She thought as she longed for a hot bath and a glass of fine wine…make that a bottle of wine.
“What the hell was that, Mackenzie?” Shepard scolded.
Mackey groaned as she was brought back to reality. She opened her eyes slightly to find his intense blue eyes looking back at her, he scowled or was constipated. She was betting on the former.
“Oh, fuck…don’t start. Listen, we got Ales and we bagged a Drider in the process. It was a good day.”
“You almost got yourself killed. You almost got your team killed.” Shepard said sternly.
“Save the ‘Be all you can be’ bullshit for the kids at home which is where I’m headed as soon as possible.” Mackey was annoyed because she knew deep down he was right. What she did was reckless and stupid.
“And as for going home,” Shepard continued, “You’re getting promoted but after tonight I’m not so sure it’s a good idea but the council sent word…”
Mackey opened her eyes and sat up just in time to hear Shepard say…
“Congratulations, Mackey, you’re a Justicar.”
Mackey felt nauseous, she knew this day would come but secretly wished it wouldn’t.
“Here’s the dossier on the subject. You’re flying out of here ASAP.”
She looked down at the manilla folder thinking she would order a case of wine with her imaginary bath. The eyes were the first thing to strike her as she stared at his photo: baby browns as her mother would say. His boyish face, his impish grin sparked something Mackenzie had been suppressing all these years and she found herself smiling as she read the name on the file: Dolmayan, John H. |

| Thanks. I know it's petty but I need that kind of outside affirmation to keep me excited about a story. |

INTRIGUING. That's the first word that popped into my head. From the first paragraph I was enthralled, that's how a story is supposed to be. Well, I AM a sucker for anything fantasy related but if it is so well written it's twice the fun. Can't wait to read more |

Ok, thank you for your patience. I needed to find my muse and do some research before completing this. Enjoy.
CHAPTER ONE
According to the U.S. Census, 1.5 million people have flocked to the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and made it their home since 1980. In the two months she had been on assignment, Mackey could see why. The beautiful mountain scenery outside of the glitz and glamour of the Strip alone was something she had looked forward to…that is, when she was not tracking her subject after he worked long hours at his warehouse or drinking early into the morning at one of the near four thousand bars Las Vegas had to offer.
Interestingly enough, John Dolmayan led a very simplistic life for a celebrity and, thankfully, he enjoyed staying out of the spotlight unless absolutely necessary; this made Mackey job infinitely easier. Like any other warm-bloodied male, John did enjoy the strip shows Vegas was famous for and, more than once, took a girl to a hotel room or a bathroom to have sex or a quick blowjob then back home to start all over again.
Every person that came in contact with John was run through the counsel’s database and, to Mackey’s dismay, they were ordinary people. Out of boredom, Taeho and Drake started a pool to see where he would take his woman du jour. But something didn’t sit right with Mackey: two months with no attacks or even a close call. Maybe she was just itching for a fight and she was very close to calling the counsel to verify their information was correct; however, there was something about him that bothered her…like an itch you can’t quite reach, his presence had haunted her long before she set eyes on him years ago.
Tonight would be different…
“Oh shit, I don’t believe it!” Drake said breaking the silence.
“What?” Mackey questioned.
“The lucky son-of-a-bitch…! He’s got three bitches on him!”
“I’m betting he’s not going to the shitter tonight.” Taeho said off-handedly.
Mackey gave him the best ‘what-the-fuck’ face she could muster as she started to match up profiles. As she searched, the bile in her stomach churned; she didn’t need the database to tell her those girls weren’t employees, regulars, or even locals…they were succubae.
“Taeho…” she said flatly. The burly man stared at his superior, not wanting to believe the ‘vacation’ was over then he slipped out of the Hum Vee. Mackey joined him and the two entered the club despite the long line outside. The club had a vintage décor giving it an “old whorehouse” look with red walls, velvet drapery with gold tassels and adding to the theme, old black and white soft pornography on the walls. Unfortunately, there was too much interference for Mackey to do a clean sweep…they would have to do it the hard way: using their eyes. Taeho took the main floor while Mackey walked up the spiral staircase to the more secluded VIP area.
The bouncer at the top of the stairs began to question Mackey’s presence their but instead let down the velvet rope and added, “Welcome, Miss. Have a good time.” Mackey pushed a hundred dollar bill into his pocket as she passed him and began her search. The area was dark and damn-near-impossible to see anyone’s features unless you were sitting on top of them. She scanned the area but could not see any sign of her subject or his companions. She silently cursed when she heard a voice from behind her.
“Hey, darlin’” said a portly man with a thick Texan accent and reeked of gin. “What’s a man needin’ to pay to get the company of such a peach?”
“Fuck off.” Mackey warned as she moved toward the balcony to get a better view of the area.
“Oh!” The drunken Texan mused, “You’ve got sass! I like that. That'll earn you an extra thousand, sugar.” He closed in and grabbed Mackey’s upper arm. In one fluid motion, she knocked out the fat tourist and laid him down on the nearest couch. She took his wallet, removed all the cash without counting it, and placed it in the nearest girl’s tip jar. ‘They deserve it for putting up with assholes like that all night’ she rationalized as she called to her team. “Talk to me! Where the fuck did they go?”
“I don’t have a visual, Mack.” the burly man replied.
“Me either, Mackey.” chimed in Drake
Mackey cursed silently and started back downstairs. Suddenly, her heart rate quickened as she got the mental image that John and his coterie were no longer in the building.
“Mackey…” Drake called.
“I know.” She interrupted, “We’re on our way.”
She met Taeho at the bottom of the stairs and the two of them were just in time to see a red Mustang and a John's blue Dodge Viper scream down the boulevard.
A tiny voice inside of John’s head was telling him this was a bad decision: going off with three strange women to a place he had never been before. Enough sense told him to take his own car instead of going with them. The blonde, Vera, sat next to him while Stephanie and Jenna took their car as they raced down the street out of town. They told him they were on vacation celebrating the recent divorce of Stephanie and were big fans of System…blah, blah, blah. In all honesty, John didn’t hear a single word they said as he became enthralled by all three. Suddenly he found himself agreeing to go back to their place for a ‘private party’ as Vera put it. As he raced with Jenna’s cherry ‘Stang, Vera was pawing at him unable to take her hands off his crotch or keep her lips off his neck; it took all of his willpower to concentrate on the road. Jenna pulled along side of John as she and Stephanie took turn visually seducing him then she shot out in front of him.
“Mm…such a big boy.” Vera purred in his ear as she took his erection out of his jeans and started to pump his cock. This drove John over the edge as his eyes rolled back slightly and he let a low moan escape his lips.
“I can’t wait, baby, I want to suck you off right now.” Vera begged and didn’t wait for a response as she lowered her head onto John’s lap.
“Oh…fuck…gah…” John brow knitted together in extreme concentration as he received one of the best blowjobs in his life. That little warning voice reminded him how crazy this was: He was doing 110 miles an hour down a deserted highway, getting a blowjob, mere feet away from the car in front of him which contained two out of three women he just met, and going to a place he never heard of. He kicked that voice out of his head completely as he gave over to the warm, wet, wonderful sensation radiating from his groin. He was at the verge of a powerful orgasm when he saw a strange creature’s face where Vera’s should have been. The creature laughed maniacally as John’s face contorted in shock and fear. He looked through the windshield just in time to see the car in front of him slam on the brakes.
Slowly, John opened his eyes as he regained consciousness. The smell of burning plastic and rubber filled his nose and his entire body ached. He was hanging upside down strapped in a seat of his car which was now on its roof; trying desperately to remember how he got here. He was at the club and left with three women…he was racing with two of them and the third was blowing him when her face changed to a horrendous monster. ‘A monster, John?’ he chided himself, not really believing what he saw. Then he heard a blood-curdling howl of an unearthly beast. Monster or not, he needed to get the fuck out of here.
Adrenaline surged through John's body as he crawled out from the wrecked car; blood flowed from a small gash in his head and trickled down the side of his face. He was surprised to find himself in such good condition considering the state of his vehicle which was nothing more than a pile of twisted metal. 'Run' he heard himself say…but where? He had no idea where he was or which direction he should go. Dark forest surrounded him on all sides. He quickly picked a direction and took off into the night. Feeling like a small rabbit being hunted by dogs, he couldn't see them but he could feel his pursuers getting closer. His lungs felt like they were on fire and his body was growing tired due to the recent trauma; fear was the only thing that kept him going. The sounds of gunshots and combat came from all around and pierced the serenity of the night. John stopped and looked for any kind of refuse.
"Here." he heard a female voice call out to him as the bushes cracked behind him.
Without thinking, he ran in the direction of the voice; however, despite his efforts, John could hear the noise closing in. Panic gripped his heart as he realized he was going to die. As he turned to fight his predator, he tripped and landed on his back. He attempted to get up but was flabbergasted as he saw what broke through the brush: the werewolf came at him full force, teeth and claws bared…ready for the kill. The beast leapt then twisted in agony and fell to the ground…dead. John stared at the beast beside him completely confused when a hand grabbed his shoulder.
"Come on." said the woman as she helped him to his feet. The two quickly dodged through the brush then the woman unexpectedly turned and tackled John to the ground.
"Shh...” she whispered lying on top of him and holding her gloved hand over his mouth.
They heard the crunching of dried leaves and twigs as the two figures moved through the forest. John could see a tall, lanky figure come dangerously close to where they were. Mackey silently prayed her powers were strong enough to obscure the two of them.
"Well?" they heard a voice call out.
"I smell him but I can't see him…he's around here somewhere." said the vampire.
Mackey raised her pistol and shot just as the vampire met her gaze.
"What the...?" the other didn't have a chance to react as a large bear mauled his victim.
"Thanks Taeho." Mackey said as she helped John to her feet. "Let's go."
The two humans and bear ran east where Drake was waiting in a Hummer.
"Two more making their way to our position" Drake said as Mackey pushed John into the back and climbed in. Taeho transformed back to human form and jumped into the front…completely naked. Drake put the car in drive as Mackey threw a pair of pants to her teammate.
"Christ, you would think they could make you a pair of stretchy pants or something. I'm tired of looking at your package every time you change." Drake complained.
"See something you like, fag?" Taeho shot back.
"I'm not into red meat, willowdick!
Taeho was about to shoot back a verbal barrage when Mackey interrupted the two.
"Can it, assholes! Drake, shut your cake hole and drive!"
She looked at John who was completely in shock and started to tend his head wound. At her touch, he surprised her by snapping out of his state and hitting her on the side of the head. The blow stunned Mackey for a moment as John continued to throw punches and scream incoherently. The car swerved as Drake and Taeho attempted to get the berserker off their boss. Mackey finally focused on her assailant and rendered John unconscious, his body collapsing on top of her.
"Should have done that from the beginning." she grunted, pushing his limp body off her. |
