My new story....Yet to be written as I type this....Whatever it turns into, I don't know yet...But, I'm sure it will suck lol..

5 mins on the clock:

----

The Graveyard shift

The inside of the department store was electric, music was playing, people were having a good time and most importantly, the store was closed. Jessica had worked at Delmonto's for over 4 years of her newly adult life, and working the graveyard shift not only gave her more time to spend at home, but it allowed her to express herself in the work place without offending any customers.

Delmonto's was a sort of home makers store. It sold a variety of things from new clothes, to pots and pans that were designed by the latest trendy food network star. Mostly occupied by the younger crowds who want to make the purchase of the newest shoe they could find, or the right bag to match the bracelet their boyfriends bought for them, Delmonto's was the kind of store you would take your children to.

Now, with the clock nearing 11:30 the store was finally closed.

The night crew begins to arrive at 10:00 and they walk around the store helping customers, until it closes at 11:00 so they can get to work filling empty shelves with the proper merchandise and having a good time in the process.

Now, with 30 minutes down and 7 hours to go the night can finally begin.

Jessica, who usually spends the first few hours wiping off the shelves the shoes, reside on is now working on marking down prices to a few stuffed frogs, left by the register as a last minute purchase to shopping moms who bring their younger children with them while the elders are in school.

As she begins to arrange the frogs, a hand grasps her by the shoulder causing her to jump in fear and turn around.

"WHAT THE -"

It's Jessica's secret boyfriend Max, who has been dating her for over 3 months now. Delmonto's has a strict policy when it comes to inner office dating. They forbid it, thus making Jessica and Max an outlaw couple forced to keep their love a secret.

"Why did you jump babe?"

"Because you scared the shit out of me.."

"haha"

"It's not funny, I could have dropped the pricing gun!"

"So? They got like 100 in the back anyways...I missed you today"

"Yeah, well I was just kind of busy"

Jessica had not been busy, in fact she was avoiding Max's calls. She simply began to feel a falling out of love process that she didn't know how to put into words.

"Oh?, doing what?"

"Max..please, I'm busy"

With those words, Max felt the pain cut through his spine like daggers of hate, sent to bring up tears and make him cry in front of the girl he loved. Before he could embarrass himself, he walks off leaving Jessica alone. Suddenly, her friend Tasha walks up looking both interested and confused.

"What was that all about?"

Tasha, was wearing her typical 2pac shirt and cut off jeans. Her dark skin, gave her a shadow like appearance as the dim lights shined down on the 2 girls.

"I don't know, I just"

"Girl, don't even say it..I knew he was no good anyway"

"It's not that he's no good.."

"Hold up"

At this moment the 2 girls boss approaches them looking vaguely interesting in their discussion. Jim was wearing his suit and tie that he tended to wear on Friday's to make sure he represented more authority than he actually had.

"What's the fuss about?"

"None of your business Jim"

Tasha's jaw dropped in shock.

"haha girl"

"Excuse me?? I run this store"

"Jim, just please don't get involved in my personal life"

"I'm not going to warn you again Jessica...You either talk to me like I'm your boss or you find a new place to work."

These words did the trick, as Jessica lowered her head for a brief moment letting his words to sink in.

"Anyways, can you girls come with me..We need to pull up the carts and bring them inside before somebody takes them"

Tasha and Jessica begin to walk with Jim toward the front door, Jim leading the way and Jessica and Tasha talking amongst themselves.

"You girls keep going, and I'll meet you at the doors, I need to make a pit stop"

Jim takes a right, leaving the girls to continue alone to the doors. And then it happened, Tasha and Jessica stopped dead in their tracks when they learned they were staring face to face at a man, who was located on the other side of the locked door leading to the parking lot.

"Jim.."

"JIM"

"JIM!!"

Jim walks up looking very angry when suddenly he stops at the sight of the man.

"Who is he?"

"We don't know.."

"Sir, who are you?"

The man tries to speak but no words are making it through. The sight of the man can only be described as horrifying. He's wearing a light brown trench coat, cuts on his face, a goatee and the tattoo of a tear drop under his left eye.

"I need help"

The mans voice was so raspy, as if he had not had a drink of water in weeks.

"I can call-"

Suddenly without warning the man collapses from the other side of the door. Jim begins to dig for his keys to the door in quite a hurry.

"Whoa, what are you doing?"

"I've got to help him...He needs help"

Jim pulls the keys from his pocket and unlocks the door. He lifts the fallen man to his feet, who quite suddenly pulls a gun from the inside of his coat and aims it at Jim.

"BACK UP!!"

All 3 agreed, and backed into the store, as the man who looks very paranoid cocks the hammer back on the gun.

"If you just do what I say, nobody will get hurt"

And with those words, the man cracks Jim in the hand with his gun, rendering him unconscious. The girls were now alone, for the time being..However, the one man they trusted was now on the floor twitching probably dreaming of him coming to the rescue, not realizing he was the only man who COULD help even though in this condition he couldn't..The only man who knew places to hide in the store, how to get rid of the man holding the gun..The only man who knew the combination to the alarm system.

We see a lot of things from the position of an outsider. We look at things from an outside perspective and that perspective is often more clear.
