Yeah I think thats a good stance to take, considering its the mother's choice to keep the child, nobody else's.

I am 99% sure I made up my mind about what to do.

I'm keeping the baby.

I know I'm not 100% ready. I know that I don't know what I'm really getting into. [lol does that make sense?] But it's not like I'm doing this alone. I have both of my parents to support me, as well as the baby's father.

With high school, I am almost finished with my junior year. I will only miss about 3 months of senior year. I know I can finish those three months. I could go to summer school after the baby is a few months old. Today I talked to a daycare just a few blocks away from my house.

I doubt that this will be easy...in fact I am sure they won't. But I know that I will love this baby more than anything. It won't come into a world where it isn't wanted.

well if that 99% turns into a 100%, then congratulations and good luck on your soon-to-come baby

How does American society support mothers? Like do they give some monthly (small) assistance? And isn't the father 'forced' to pay some support money until kid is old enough? And about breast feeding, I've heard it's best for baby to be breast fed, but eg my mom couldn't breast fed me, so you should not count on that.

Hi Awean:

The US is very much a "God helps those who helps themselves" society, so from what I've seen, you have to be pretty impoverished before you can get aid. WIC http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/ is the most common government program that assists pregnant women or women with children with access to very basic foods like milk and bread. I believe that assistance stops once the child reaches five years of age. I've seen hard working single moms get denied food aid because their children were not anemic. Ha! The moms were anemic from malnutrition!

I've got to say that you made me hungry in a previous posting when you mentioned rhubarb and gooseberries. I'm originally from Northern Indiana, where my parents had a big rhubarb patch in the back yard and four gooseberry bushes in the side yard. We ate rhubarb almost every meal. (Mom canned it in the fall so we could enjoy it in the winter.) And my mom made outstanding gooseberry pie every summer.

That's sad, 'cause many people here are complainig that they should get more money than hey now can get, it's about 150 dollars a month for first child and 180 dollar second or something like that.

And Bounce you have good attitude towards the baby and love is (psychologically) one of key issues with baby, all those goddamn documents have proved it. And if you're sure to keep the baby Congrats Very Happy

Bounce!, I am proud that you have made the decision to keep the baby, just prepare yourself for 18 years of commitment. Hey, it might be longer. My brother's 28 now, and we still can't get him out of the house Laughing

No I haven't! I don't want to get ahead of myself...I'll make a new topic sometime.

All I know is if it's a boy, I don't want to name him Serj. It'd be rough for him. For one thing, Serj isn't an awesome name to begin with. People would look at it and go WTF? And, I don't want my kid growing up knowing that his mother named him after a guy she idolized when she was a teenager.

COWBELL!!! FUCK YES!!!

Eduardo? Not so much. I know it is sooo early to be thinking about this. But I kinda like the quirky names. Not like Eduardo, Fabio, Shqneuia, stuff like that. I like...
Mateio
Saige

And....

Constantine. [LOL not like I'd ever name a child this]

I listen to a lot of Radiohead, that genre. That's pretty mellow. What's mellower than Radiohead !
