I have always been fascinated with corrupt young adults. The fact that they would actually carry out something such as a school shooting is ridiculous...what kind of internal hell could these people have gone through in the short time of their life? There have been many school shootings commercialized and non, but one has always captured my attention more than any other. Columbine involved two kids: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. As i look back on some of the many videos that the suicidal school shooters had made, Dylan and Eric have always been separated by the fact that they weren't angry. These kids had friends, good grades, and not a mark on their criminal records...of course besides that one fateful night a year before the shootings when they broke into a van. The shootings I think have something to do with that van, but I just can't seem to find the meaning, it could be of course that they just wanted to steal stuff, but I don't quite believe that. These shootings were sad, and my sympathies go out to the famalies that were hurt, but they were not some mindless massacre...I think it was a plea, a plea for something, but there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Please please please don't try to discredit anything within this story, if you have something to say about this topic, put some thought behind it.

The only thing that drove this story was media hype. They blamed Manson. They blamed Natural Born Killers. The only thing they didn't blame was these kids' mental states.

This is what we need to stop doing.

What these kids wanted was to be known and to bring fear to people years after their incident. And that is exactly what they are getting. Obviously everyone knows now and the other recent school shooters look up to them as heroes. Look it up on Youtube if you don't believe me. The other reason is fear. They brought fear to a whole new level after that. It's fearful to know how short your life can be and that you are never safe not even in schools..

My advice: Don't flaunt them like this because the psycho freaks look to them as heroes and that makes me sick.

They're not being flaunted at all. If anything, these kids provide a cautionary tale to parents everywhere. School shootings are still happening, not just in the US, but it happens over here too - very rare, mind, but that's because our kids can't get hold of guns as easily as American kids, thanks to the bloody constitution.

The only reason they are still feared is - here I say it again - media hype.

Its not that its just parents who read these tales, it's the other kids that look up to them like heroes from reading them.

I really hope they never release footage that some of them made.

Well, if a kid is dumb enough to see them as heroes, then the parents are partly to blame.

Sorry I found this part quite funny. Some criminals (especially murderers) are very wise, good actors and they have good nerves. or on the other hand they are just so freak out that they don't care, panic or go into shock at some point. To avoid getting caught they have to act normal; that's why people don't usually find out what's going on before it's too late.
too easy access to guns has made this possible, partly.

Well apparently these kids left a note when they went out to the school, which stated that nobody was to blame but them, and for the police, their parents and the media to not blame anyone but them, because they committed the murders, nobody else.

Naturally, because they listened to good old Manson and the Spooky Kids the media were all over him like a pack of dogs - it has happened since then too - the girls who murdered a nun in Italy listened to him - he was blamed.

That boy in Scotland who murdered his girlfriend in some woods to make it look like The Black Dhalia - because Manson has a sick obsession with that case, and ... he was a fan of his music.

The media will always look for a tenuous link to anything thats is a hot topic at the time when something major happens - and at the time of these various murders, Manson was something new (ish) and outrageous which scared mothers everywhere (apart from my mother, apparently, who listened to his music and thought it was funny that he was copying Alice Cooper).

I can't agree with the basic argument of "THE MUSIC IS TO BLAME" because it just isn't... The music reflects who you are as a person, and yes I am sure the music reflects off of a person.. But if you have the mental capacity to allow music to make you kill, then there is something else wrong...

They blame Eminem because he ripps on gay people... I support gay rights, but I'm not going to say because Eminem dislikes gays, he influenced columbine, like marilyn manson.

It's a shame what the media will do for a story.

Anybody ever seen Bowling for columbine?

Why has nobody blamed the president?? He sent bombs to another country the morning of Columbine...

Or nobody blamed the town itself

Littleton has a missile site right in town, and they transport bombs and missiles every night...

The kids had mental problems, that were ignored for years... Probably written away as emotional disorders they figured would pass.

I don't blame music in the slightest..

The van

Maybe, they decided to break into the van and found the guns... From this moment they began to spawn ideas about what they could do with the guns that after abuse from their peers they decided to put into a reality.
