this is a poem for a very special lady, i think she knows who she is 
She closes her eyes; strikingly primal
And unspeakably beautiful, hidden now
Hidden behind closed curtain lids.
She has no time for reality.
And, in her aching head, reality has no time for her.
If only she could see…!
She blinks slow. Her throat is dry
And thick with the sour taste of apathy.
Her room is dark, a cushioned crypt if you will.
And the dusky gleam
Of the knife flirts obscenely with her attention.
Her wrists itch. Her skin crawls with need.
…If I could clear her vision, be her eyes
For a day, and make her see. If I could be her guide.
And show her life beyond the abyss.
(For such a life exists, and I think I may have found it
If only she would push, break out, maybe…)
Instead she sighs, forces shut her feline eyes
And dreams of sinking gently into the white.
…It doesn’t have to be so.
But she is sinking fast
And smiling as she falls. Life is so sweet
When cradled in the arms of Despair, held close like a lover
And slowly, deliciously choked to black. It hurts to see.
It hurts to watch. It hurts to sit back, and to feel
So vividly what she feels. To remember…
How it feels
To bleed. To hurt. To love every moment.
And it hurts to see such a life wither.
(I won’t watch her fall)
If I could be her eyes
I would show her the sunrise
Just beyond the stagnant rim of the horizon
And I would show her the HOPE
Scratched into the flesh of the night sky
Like the most beautiful wound. |
