| When hes saying about being on the radio or video he sounds so upset about, like trapped in stardom. I think you're right about him thinking back on his childhood but I'm also convinced theres a double meaning about drugs, like maybe in Darons mind his childhood friends are associated with drugs? |

''Hey man look at me rocking out i'm on the radio/video with Danny and Lisa''
this song is about people wanting to be famous and it's very easy to get famous for a while nowadays. A typical guy has gotten famous with alot of other people. (Danny and Lisa) Danny and Lisa are just random people that are famous for a while. Daron has named them after his childhood friends.
I dunno about the rest of the song... |

>< M'kay, I know there's probably another board for this song already, but I can't seem to find it right now... Also, sorry if someone's already said this!!! But anyway, here goes:
It seems like this song is about Daron sort of reflecting on his life. He's saying, "Hey man, look at me rocking out, I'm on the radio." Meaning, "Wow, look where I am today". I think the line "They take me away from, the strangest places, sweet Danny and Lisa." means that when he's feeling like he's in a strange situation or something, he can look back at childhood memories (I remember seeing someone say Danny and Lisa were his friends when he was a kid) and maybe they make him feel better? At that point where they go "La la la lalala la, lalala la, lalala la" it sounds like a merry-go-round going a little crazy, maybe he's saying that now that he's grown up things are kind of crazy? (Of course, I thought I remembered reading something that said he didn't have the best childhood. I have no idea, though...)
Anyway, just a theory. It might not be about him at all! Comments, anyone?
Hey!Have u ever seen an interview on youtube...A person asked what is the meaning of that song...and Serj said:IN MY TIME,I'M NOT THAT OLD...(LOL)...PEOPLE STARTED WATCHING VIDEOS...I MEAN ITS GOOD BUT THEY DONT LISTEN TO RADIO ANY MORE...THEY DON'T WATCH NEWS AND STUFF...THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD!...
Isnt it enough to say or what???!!! |

I saw that thing somewhere, too! I think it was wikipedia.
But anyway for me it's more importantant to find my own meaning for the song than to know what Daron has thought. |

Lisa and Sweet Danny = L.S.D? Like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? xD I think these lyrics aren't very explicit, personally I don't think that they were referred to Radio and Video industries. The "L.S.D" explanation gives sense to "They take me away from the strangest places, Sweet Danny and Lisa", for example.
I think SystemGirl just owned this thread.
I will say though, if that is not the meaning, then it's what was pointed out in this thread, which in my opinion, isn't that hard to comprehend. However, the reason I think SystemGirl is correct is that Daron's music is highly influenced by the Beatles =] |
