Where do I start? Let's see... I drove by the Hampton Colisuem just to check it out at around 11:00 am the day of the show and there were already people hanging out in front of the building. I wanted to see where the tour bus was because 2 nights before in Atlanta I couldn't get to the tour bus because there were fences up everywhere. There were no enclosed fences in Hampton and I saw the buses for the crew but not System's bus so I went back to my hotel and waited to come back for the show. I really wanted to get Serj to sign my copy of "Cool Gardens," but I knew it was his birthday and I really did not expect to find him there. We came back to the Coliseum for the show that night and were patted down by security. No cameras, purses, alcohol, etc. I did get my camera in and then checked in to pick up the VIP tickets I bought on EBAY. We got 2 floor tickets, 2 mezzanine tickets, and 2 VIP guest passes. I wish I had been told in advance that I would have 2 extra tickets because I could have brought 2 more of my friends along. I was told later that they gave them to us so we could sit anywhere we wanted - like we would want to sit anywhere besides the side of the stage??? We wandered around a bit and tried to get backstage before the concert, but it turns out there wasn't really much of a backstage except for a room with some food and beer in it. They did not sell beer at this coliseum. Basically besides the food room there was just a bunch of equipment and cases. We had to wait for the two opening bands to finish their sets before we could go to the VIP platform by the stage because there was also equipment there, so we watched the first band, Bad Acid Trip from the arena floor. Everyone was just kind of standing around. It wasn't easy to understand what the singer was saying and I really hope that they weren't singing songs about screwing babies or anything because he was acting like he was screwing a doll at one point. They did a lot of screaming and their music was really loud. It was sounding pretty good at times and then the screeching would begin again. They were only on stage for about 30 minutes so it wasn't so bad. Maybe if I knew the words I could have enjoyed it better. After that I went outside to smoke and heard The Mars Volta come on. I didn't like them that much when I saw them in Atlanta but they kind of grew on me. They have some pretty rockin songs and the singer is entertaining. He dances around and throws his microphone and the stand around and does splits and shuffles - almost like James Brown. The crowd seemed to like them better than Bad Acid Trip and they played for about 45 minutes to an hour. I'm not sure exactly how long. People were smoking pot all over the place. They do run their songs together and its hard to tell when one stops and another begins, like I've heard others say, but I still thought it was alright. After they finished it was about 30 minutes before System of a Down came on. During this time I met a columbia records employee who took me and my boyfriend backstage to the VIP area. It was basically a riser set up on the right hand side of the stage about 5 feet away from the actual stage. During the show the guys from The Mars Volta hung out there with us (I got my picture taken with the guitarist - he rocks), 2 girls who were "with the band," and another girl and guy who had crew passes but I think they may have been family members or something. Before Daron began to play the intro to BYOB I saw John come out and sit at his drums and I just couldn;t help myself I screamed - JOHN!!!! - and he looked at me and smiled and waved. I was so excited that I don't even remember seeing any of the other guys walk out. I could see behind the curtain that they had up with the Mesmerize cover on it. Then I heard Daron begin to sing and the curtain fell and I saw all of them there just feet in front of me and it was SO AWESOME!!!! I couldn't take my eyes off of them. They kicked ass all night. I don't remember all the songs they sang or the order, especially since I had just seen them in Atlanta and it was pretty much the same, but I know that they didn't do a lot of things in Hampton that they did in Atlanta - so I'm glad I got to see them both times. Some of the best parts of the night were when Daron told everyone that it was Serj's birthday and led the crowd in a verse of Happy Birthday to You. Serj was embarrassed and turned away from the audience but I was still able to see him because of where I was sitting. It was a very sweet moment. Also, Daron was running all over the stage like crazy. He had on a shirt with stars all over it that I had not seen before. He ran over to our side of the stage lots of times and made faces at us and thrashed his guitar and made eye contact with us - that was awesome too. Shavo kept us laughing all night. He would come over and make faces at us, kneel down in front of us and play, he went over to John during Mr. Jack and was playing one of his cymbals. He even got us to flash him! He was great. I took some really good pictures of him because he was around us a lot. Serj was dancing around a good bit - for Serj. He did his ballerina spin thing and he played guitar in Mr. Jack and Question and maybe one other song. He got down on his knees some and I thought he was wonderful. His voice is so fantastic. They definitely sound better live than on CD. They did not do they My-My-Hey-Hey or the Sultans of Swing intro like they did in Atlanta. Daron did do the My-cock-is-much-bigger-than-yours slow intro, he did the red people and blue people lets make purple people intro, and he got everyone to say fuck you a lot. I think he did do more, but I was trying to talk to the girls that were supposedly "with the band" and got distracted several times. Long story short - the show kicked ass and when it was over John threw his drumsticks into the crowd and all the guys bowed and left the stage. I screamed so loud that night that my throat still hurts. After the show was over we were told to go back into the arena or to our cars so I went back out into the arena and saw some other people with backstage passes and then Shavo comes out riding a skateboard. He skates around a little and doens't look like he is much of a skater, but comes over to us and hangs out for a little while with Sevag (serj's bro). The people still there are asking to take a picture with him and he signs some autographs, etc. and we are last to talk to him and after getting a picture with him he asks my boyfriend what's up with his beard (he has about a 5" long goatie) and they start talking about their beards and Shavo starts to swing around and like fight his beard against my boyfriend's!!! They are standing there whipping their beards against each other and of course, Shavo's beard would win in a beard fight, so he gives up and everyone is standing around laughing. It was cool, like we were just hanging out with him for a minute, like with a friend of ours. Then we talk to Sevag for a little and take a picture with him. Then they have to go and security clears everyone out of the coliseum. Well, I had locked my keys in my car so I called AAA and while waiting on them we hang out around the building. We met some cool people there and heard different perspectives on the show. Here comes Sevag riding on the skateboard through the parking lot. We ask him if the band's going to be coming out anytime soon and he tells us that they already left in a car to go to the airport. We hung out with him for about another 15 minutes asking him questions about what he does for the band and then I went into some questions about the band and I felt like I was probably annoying him (he is so sweet and nice) so we left and saw him skateboarding around as we walked back to the car. It was an awesome night. There were lots of awesome people there. I will upload some of my photos.

I just uploaded the one of us with Shavo and you can see where he is checking out my boyfriend's beard already. I don't know how long it takes to be able to see the pictures here. I have some good ones from during the concert too, mostly of Shavo, but some of the other guys too. Shavo was the closest the most and I didn't want to take a picture every time they walked over to us or I was afraid they (Daron & Serj) wouldn't come back! Plus I just wantd to enjoy it.
