| This song is named after Ddevil music which help soad with there self titled album i agree with ratm20 its about the media corupting people. |

ok my ideas on the song:
Personally i think this song is actually about the devil, and summoning evil spirits, how stupid people are to even wanna mess with such a force (doing ouegi boards etc) and maybe even other bands 'worshipping the devil'... ok heres why i think this:
Ok to start off... The fridge gaining indendance, well basically, when you do actually worship the devil its quite well known for people putting pigs/goats/cows blood in the fridge, i dont know why but they just do... 'stupid people do stupid things' and 'smart people outsmart each other, then themselves then themselves, then themselves then themselves' could mean, it doesnt matter if you stupid or smart, everyone does stupid things, ie summoning an evil force...
Photographic relaspe people making frenzy is just about people being controlled or took over by the devil or an evil force.
I think that the name DDevil was put in for 2 reasons, 1 meaning Dare devil, cuz people who mess about with this sort of things are dare devils, they just arnt using fast rides or bungee ropes, instead its ouegi boards. and reason 2 is because of Shavos stutter...
ALSO i think this song has something to do with shavo in a way, because if you know who writes the song, its mostly, malakian, and 50% of the time its serj, and this is nearly the only one which shavo has been involved in writing, i think shavo created the majority of this song so maybe this has something to do with his personal experiece? maybe this has caused his stutter? sounds silly but just an idea!
And has for 'The devil is so lovely' if you listen to another part, serj does a really sarcy giggle after strongly suggesting that this comment is sarcastic...
Anyway thats my view on the matter! |

WHAT?!? first off, what does putting cow blood in a refrigerator have to do with a refrigerator gaining independance? Second, how does photographic relapse have to do with mind control? (photographic relapse means to re-live in your mind something picture-perfectly). You have a good imagination there sparky... but I think you need to re-think that one |

Well, that still doesnt make sense in the whole devil posessed thing, but if you think about it that way, photographic relapse may have something to do with Shavo's reacurring nightmares about his past at his Armenian elementary school.
My word by word perception:
"Plagiarized existence exist among the writers of the word, shake your spear at Shakespeare, shake your spear at Shakespeare."
Basically it sounds like SoaD is either claiming that Shakespeare was plagiarizing other peoples work or they are saying that other people steal his work.
the strong refrigerators gaining independance part still boggles me as of right now.
The stupid people part basically means what it says and I think theyre just making a point, or maybe it has something to do with the last part...
The take me down there, photographic relapse part still has alot of questions to be asked but I think it's referring to a haunting experience (maybe Shavo's) that one of the band members had. I DO think the "The devil is so lovely" part is sarcastic (especially because of the laugh).
The blue moon part I think maybe has something to do with Serj's personal religion and maybe a spirit, but I know NOTHING about his religion, so I wouldnt know.
Anyways, that's my incomplete analysis on it. |

ACTUALY
if you open up the booklet that came with your own little self-titled album, you can see for yourselves, right on page 1 where the lyrics is written: before they list "6. DDEVIL" there's a quote, sized as the "All rights reserved" text, that goes like this:
Quote:
"For those that control the central nervous system, control society, and the world."
( i know it refers to the ddevil song instead of that one above him, because you can see similar quotes above other songs there, and last one above "P.L.U.C.K.". )
anyhow, that quote points out that this song is talking about the pattern of modern media and its consequences... and not spiritual holy shmoly cows-in-fridge crap.
about the meaning of the Shakespeare lines: I don't take it literally.
I think thats a cynical comparison between the old and the new media. "Shake your spear" is like laughing at, abusing, violating (and even "raping", if you dont mind the analogy of the word "spear") the biggest english literature genius ever.
Also, regarding the Refrigerators part:
I believe that by "Refrigerators" they mean "Televisions" - "Loud and Noisy", like we all love them. by calling TV a "Strong Refrigerator", all they do is making clear what this Machine really IS, an electric equipment that is a bit more sophisticated then the all-regular fridge. They substact from the importance of this Taboo.
When the refrigerators are "getting independence" it means that their literal significance is driven away from its original meaning, to some unintended state where these machines have much larger influence.
