You know, after the phenom that was Thursday night I really didn't think Saturday could be any better. I have never been proven more wrong. Actually, every band was intensely better. Yes, even Bad Acid Trip. Maybe it was because waiting outside for 2 hours paid off by letting me be at the very front of the pit, mere feet away from Daron, or maybe because it was just that damned good. I'd say a bit of both. I won't be talking about the songs so much, as again, they were perfect like Toronto. However I'm going to give the pit experience, in as much detail as possible. You guys know how much I like long reviews.

So I did show up at 5 o clock. About 50 people had lined up so far, I was worried I wouldn't get a spot infront of the guard rails. When they did let us in I made my way to the guard rails where there was an empty spot right where I knew Daron would be. I vowed not to move from there for the next 4 hours.

Bad Acid Trip came on a little after seven, I expected more of the same mediocrity from them as I had got in Toronto. They started off alright, being closer gave me a good look at the singer and the rest of the band. The singer wasn't dancing around as much as he was in Toronto but the band did look a lot better. Except the drummer, he sucked. Then the singer announced that this was Bad Acid Trip's last show on the tour. I was hoping maybe something special would happen and for once, I was right. With a couple songs left to go in the set John came out and starting stealing the drummer's equipment. When John came back for more the second time the singer took out the plastic penis he had been playing with earlier and had mock sex with John when he bent over. And like any good gay, John returned the favour. I think the guitarist got in on the action too, it was hilarious. John then went to run around the stage as the singer chased him and John tackled the guitarist. Shavo then came out from the other side loaded with whipped cream cans and mustard. He sprayed every band member as much as he could and everyone was laughing. One of the security guards got completely toppled with mustard and he didn't seem too happy. The food fight went on for a couple songs and it was really fun to watch. After half an hour BAT left the stage after a surprisingly pleasing set.

Soon enough, Mars Volta's entrance music played and I was hoping they too, would be more of a sight up close. However as I was thinking about it a tall kid with long hair pushed me aside and made some room for him and a friend. I was really frusterated by it cause it was just like I was some obstacle in his way and I wasn't big enough to really push back. It put me more off to the left and I was still in a happy situation. A security guard then gave him an animated talk for his actions and he calmed down. I also didn't mind because the friend he had was a fairly attractive girl. She had her really big boyfriend groping her from behind but both were good for conversation and were nice. Both ended up making the night more enjoyable for me later on.

So The Mars Volta started playing and they were awesome. Much more enjoyable from the pit, to see the singer's moves and the rest of the band going at it. Actually before their first song, the singer actually said something which was surprising because he was anti-social as hell in Toronto. He said "You don't know who we are but we know who you are and this is our last fucking show." Weird, but cool enough. The Mars Volta played the same 4-5 songs from the other night that nearly took up an hour. It was enjoyable this time though cause you could see how animated they were playing and you recognize the jist of songs which makes a pretty mellow experience. I still wouldn't call them a top tier act but this time around they seemed to be more than just an opening act. The guy that pushed me aside early tried excessively and violently moshing to them but just managed to get his final warning from the security. After a good hour TMV finished up and again I found myself waiting for another show of a lifetime.

It took longer for SOAD to get ready this time around, I think we were waiting for about 25 minutes. I made some talk with the girl and her boyfriend around me. The crowd had gotten bored and people started crowd surfing before stuff even began. There were a few System chants during this time too. I knew the wait would pay off, it had been 4 hours since I arrived outside and I would have waited another 4 if I had to.

Finally, the lights went out and Daron got into the Soldier Side. Again, perfect. When BYOB started people were going crazy. I was just just uttery blown away. Daron was right there. Fifteen feet away. Fifteen feet away from the man who's songwriting changed and possibly saved my life. I barely felt myself being pressed up against the barriers I was in such awe. The band was so animated, much more than they were in Toronto and they were insane in Toronto! Again everyone was singing every word and just having a great time. A girl to the left of me passed out and almost looked lifeless which was a shame. I concluded with the 'girlfriend' that she must have been on great drugs. The big guy protecting her proved himself valuable as he wasn't so into moshing and just making sure his girlfriend was comfortable. The shield he created covered me too, so I was rather comfy too.

The show was better than flawless, during BYOB Serj said stuff to the crowd as much as he could. Daron introduced Needles with saying again "it's kinda like a tapeworm, coming out of your ass." He later made the motion of him pulling out of his own ass. He looked at our front row a lot as he was right there. Made eye contract with me so many times, it was just so unbelieveable.

When Suggestions came around Shavo walked over to our side. He gets the most in to it with the crowd, standing at the edge of the stage motioning everyone. The girl beside me then flashed him and Shavo seemed smugly extatic about what he saw. Hell, I was too, being the testostorone driven teenager I am. It was harder to get Daron to look in one place all at the same time since he was all over the place going insane but he finally managed to get flashed too after many of the girls attempts (the more the better I say!). He gave a casual smile like it was just another set of boobs but then proceeded to flash her back. Quite the boobs he has...o_O.

Psycho came after Suggestions and Daron introduced it with "everybody suck your dicks!" ... "everyobdy start to dance" ... "I want you all dancing!" Oh and we were, Psycho was fantastic and again led into a beautiful Chop Suey. My My Hey Hey followed and Daron did it amazingly and he started Kill Rock n Roll. I was still in shock that this was unfurling all feet away from me, I could see the sweat on Daron's face.

Kill Rock n Roll was amazing. I will never forget that song. Daron looked at me at least 6 times that song as he saw I knew the words. I don't know if he would have been impressed or ticked off but it just gave me such a great feeling to know that he noticed me. Although I did kind of wish I had boobs because as shown it would have made things a lot easier.

Everything else was just a fantastic blur from there, Sad Statue, Violent Porn with a slow intro and Mr Jack were all played to perfection. The whole band looked like they were enjoying it so much. All were insane. Serj barely visited the sides of the stage but you just knew he owned the centre with his heart and soul.

Cigaro was great again with the slow intro. When the song got fast and he said "can't you see that she loves my cock" he was looking directly at the girl beside me who did acknoweldge she loved his cock. Her boyfriend didn't seem to mind.

When Bounce came around it had a different intoduction, Daron exchanged "Wooooo's!" with the crowd and then did a semi-slow intro to the song with the lyrics. Daron of course than proceeded to have sex with his guitar during the song. I was close enough to have sex with his guitar too, I still can't get over that.

Lost in Hollywood, Forest and Question! came next. They were the best trio of songs on Thursday night but tonight every thing had just been too damned good to make these go above and beyond everything else. Every song was just played the best it could have been so nothing could stand out.

Next came the only set change of the night, to introduce War? on Thursday SOAD did that blue-esque kind of thing yet this time they played Drugs. It was great to hear, especially the response when Daron asked the crowd if we liked drugs.

After War? Daron again played Sultans of Swing. Again I felt more than happy. The ultimate guitar riff played by the ultimate person. Except this time he added part of the solo from the song on to the end. I don't think Serj was expecting it as he gave Daron a huge grin after he played it.

Aerials was extremely neat and Toxicity was very cool cause at parts it looked like Serj was just singing to Daron and Shavo as they stood together.

The Prison Song again thrashed its way into the category of awesomeness. Daron was just getting more amazing by the second. Teasing the crowd with his moves and just not letting you take your eyes off of him. It was great to hear him say "I buy my crack I smack my bitch right here in HAMILTON!"

By this time the madness of the pit had spread to the front and I got forced back a few rows and I was slightly disheartened that there were people infront of me getting a more prime look at Daron. However it was almost the end of the set and it gave me a chance to get some moshing in. Plus at the front, you always get kicked in the head by the crowdsurfers getting pulled by the guards. Science was played during this time.

For Suite-Pee the guitarist and singer from Bad Acid trip came on to do the screaming in the second half of the song. It was pretty cool and it looked like the boys were having lots of fun. It made me happy to see the bands got along so well.

By Sugar I got back far enough to be in the core of the pit and I had never been in a more intense environment. Everyone was just absolutely insane and jumping. Great way to end the show. It was honestly the show of my life. After the song Daron tried spinning his guitar around his neck and hit himself in the head with it. He playfully collapsed and lay there as the crowd erupted in cheers. The band walked off, John threw sticks and there was a surreal sense of it being over and people trying to believe that amazing show actually happened. These shows just make me want to see SOAD again and again.

My first pit experience was one of the most memorable in my life and just made me so extremely happy. I looked Daron in the eyes, saw every band member up close and the sheer extacy of the two hours they played was at a permanent climax.

I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be from the pit but I'm sure I'll feel some more tomorrow. This was a great finish to the summer and I can only pray they come back when Hypnotize is around. It felt many a time like Daron was just singing to us in the front row, it was like a dream. I love System of a Down more than I can ever describe it.

Does anyone know why the bands are going seperate ways now? BAT had dropped off for the overseas part of the first leg, but came back for the east coast us tour. They seem to get along very well. The guitar player came on stage to goof off at the Hampton VA show in August too. I was under the impression that TMV and SOAD were long time friends but it sure doesn't seem that way right now eh? I saw no comaraderie betweent he two like BAT & SOAD. Anyone know whats up? I am going to see Shadows Fall tonight in North Carolina.

being on-stage with them has brought the music to a new level in my mind. When you stand inches away from them as they play those songs, they become even more powerful
