| mr. jack isn't a drug dealer, he's a friend whom they refer to as white boy jack, they call him white boy jack cuz he looks white but is an armo, and it's about him being harrassed by the cops simply because we (in reference to those who aren't cops) are different in their eyes, they usually see everyone as a suspect and treat you like shit after passing judgement. That's my take on it, but the thing about who jack is, is true. |

i think this point is showing a phone conversation
"Hey where're you at?
On the side of the freeway in the car..."
ps: i read that this song used to be called P.I.G and Bacon, which means the songs focus is probably on the currupt poliece and not their victims. |

This is a late reply, but there's a line which goes:
7AM, morning, came to take us away
little men, big guns, pointed at our heads...
I always picture the scene where the ATF found the cuban kid elian gonzalez (?) hiding with his mom or someone in a closet and the officer was pointing his rifle at them. maybe i'm just crazy. |

To me the meaning of this song is fairly basic.
Mr.Jack is an average, everyday man. He is in his car driving down the highway, when he gets pulled over for an un-apparent reason. The police of his city are corrupt, and bust people unfairly -- hence the "Fuck you, pig!" lyric. System seems to be against corruption of power and Government, so I believe my explanation makes sense. |

| I believe "Mr. Jack" is just a different version of a "John Smith." just an average everyday person like you and me, being harrassed by the police, even though they are just "mr. jack's" themselves, but with their pointy hats and guns, they separate themselves from us. |

The way I see this is as this is a song sung by Mr. Jack´s friend, telling the story of Jack and when he was arrested (and his friend was with him).
My understanding (barely need to say this) is that they were driving away (on the freeway) in quite a rush ("Is that the mouthwash in your eyes?") and in disguises ("Is that the trick of your disguise?").
Then he goes "7a.m. morning, came to take us away. Little men, big guns, pointed at our heads" wich is quite funny in fact, little men with big guns... The fact that he says it this way says alot about that he does not respect cops, even thinks they are pussies hiding behind their guns.
Then it goes: "Your prospect of living gone. You ran the light at dawn. Protectors on your back. Lights are on their tracks" the way I see this is as Jack´s friend is the protector and he feels he is doing something wrong by following him this way, since he is innocent and should just lay back. But his friendship is to strong to not help his friend.
Then they get caught "You must now face authority. You´re nothing like me" I feel this as a sort of a betrayal, as he tells the officer he is innocent and it´s all Jack´s fault, perhaps I am wrong. Many sides on one story...
In the end of the song he (Jack, or if my last sentance was wrong then it´s Jack´s friend) gets angry at the cops because they take him away (and the last sentance is a police officer adressing him).
Also I remember reading before Toxicity that they were going to do a song about an 80´s TV show that included a knight riding a car, not a horse. This must then be that song, but perhaps it changed? |

I've thought about this song a lot. I think the three verses in this song each refer to a different "character" but mirror each other in the exact same way regarding the morality and actual reality of the situation. I think the song tries to show how police and criminals are not always that different and that they both can have the same fate.
In the first verse Mr. Jack refers to a corrupt police officer. The first line is sung to Mr jack the police officer " Hey Mr. Jack is that the mouthwash in your eyes ...cause of your surprise " Is a reference to a cop drinking alcohol on the job." "Is that the trick of your disguise... is that the cause of your demise.." I see this as a question. Is being drunk the only way you can stomach doing your job and at the same time the reason why you don't do your job well. A corrupt cop sitting around on the freeway drunk waiting to bust someone.
Now the whole 7am in the morning part .. .I think refers to Elian Gonzales and is pretty much self explanatory. Same idea unjust behavior justified in the mind of those doing it.
I always imagine the person in the final verse as just poor suicidal person wanting to go down in a blaze of glory. A person who like the corrupt cop in the begining has no moral recourse for their action "Your prospect of living gone -- you ran the light at dawn" He purposefully wanted the police to come after him so he's driving around running red lights, and who's behind him... Drunk Mr. Jack the police officer from the 1st verse. "You must now face authority, your nothing like me" I see them both yelling this at each other because in reality both these people are losers and while they think they are different they are really the same person. Neither justified in what they are doing both acting without a thought for the consequences of their actions. Just messed up people contibuting to the degradation of society as a whole. Ayway that's what I think. |
