What is the soundtrack of your life?
The songs that describes you and your life so far?
That you can identify yourself with the most.
It doesn't have to be SOAD-songs, of course. |

This should probably go in the other bands forum, but oh well. Since there is no song limit, i'll go all out with explanations -
A Perfect Circle - The Nurse Who Loved Me
This song represents a time in my life where I was completly dependant on someone, a person I loved deeply, and let myself open up to in every way possible. I realized, after that came back to hurt me, that I had used her, and in the process was used myself. This song fits that perfectly to me. The nurse character in the song (which may not be a person at all) is how I see that person I loved, as a nurse to my desires, but an addiction that hurt me in the end.
Alex Lifeson - At The End
This song represents the situation I would have had in the future, had I of stayed with Katie (Some of you know, some dont.) Anyway, a lyric sample -
He opens the books, looks at the seeds from yesterday.
How they laughed and loved and lived,
before they grew old and grey.
Now he sits alone in his room,
and the clock ticks away.
Together they enjoyed all life's beauties, and all it's fears.
The lonely cry of his soul falls only on his ears,
each page marked with the stain of his tears.
Basically, it's about growing old with someone you love, and losing them. I have a deep fear of that, and this song represents that perfectly.
Barenaked Ladies - Pinch Me
When I first heard this song, I could have sworn they wrote it about me. Each line seems to fit my more lazy personality traits perfectly, and many parts of the song fit things i've done in my life. "It's like a dream, you try to remember but it's gone, then you try to scream and it only comes out as a yawn, you try to see the world beyond your front door." That's me.
Billy Joel - Captain Jack
I do not think there is a song that fits me better than this. Every single line fits me personally, it's almost scary. If you want to know me, look up the lyrics of this song.
Blink 182 - I Miss You
It was odd that I first heard this song only a day after me and Katie broke up, and it all fit so well with how I felt towards her. I used to listen to this all night, it helped me to cope, even though it was depressing and painful, it helped.
Chris Issak - Wicked Game
When I was a bit younger, I had a huge crush on a girl in my school, Jackie. I guess I was 14 or so. Then, of course, I was foolish enough to mix up a crush for love, because it was all new to me. This song, I remember hearing one night when I was lying in my bed, unable to sleep because she was going through my mind. It seemed to be just how I was feeling at the time, and I fell in love with the song right away. I went out and bought the single, and listened to it constantly, even making a copy of it on tape and putting it in Jackie's bookbag, in an attempt to express my feelings through song. Lame, I know, but at the time it was the most daring thing I had done. This song still hits home.
Creed - Whats This Life For?
I can still remember when I first heard this song, it was a rough point in my life, my family was going to shit, friend I had were moving away, physically and mentally. Everything seemed like shit, but this song really helped, and it caused me to attempt to make some connection with God. That's a long long story, but this song really made a difference in my life, even though it was for a short period of time.
Dave Matthews Band - Crash Into Me
There is an entry in my journal that explains this song, and what it means to me, perfectly. Link is in my signature, check it out, the entry is entitled "Remembering", if memory serves me correctly.
DMX - How's It Goin Down?
This is a bit embarrasing, but I used to be heavy in the "urban" lifestyle. It had alot to do with where I lived, simple adaptation really, the mentallity and physical toughness were learned naturally. This song represented alot of relationships I had at the time, even though I was young and didnt know what the fuck I was doing, it still fit somehow.
Eminem - Lose Yourself
Alot of people dont know this about me, but I used to freestyle. Not just with my friends for fun, but in competitions and such. If you've seen 8 Mile, well, it was similar to that, we'd have a bunch of people in a basement laundromat at an apartment complex or somewhere similar, a fairly decent mic system, and we'd just go at it. I was pretty good at it, I won a few competitions, but nothing big. This song reminds me of those times.
Gary Jules - Mad World
I am convinced this was written about me, how I was between 8-12. This one is hard to explain, but the song fits a very depressing part of my life perfectly.
HIM - Close To The Flame
Well, I lost my virginity to this song, so it obviously represents a very major part of my life.
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
This song fits the latter part of mine and Katie's relationship very well. How old and boring we had become to each other, the constant bitterness, yet there was something there we couldnt break. It was love, and it eventually tore us apart.
Marilyn Manson - Disassociative, Fundamentally Loathsome, In The Shadow Of Death, Man That You Fear, The Speed Of Pain
Each of these songs ties into some sort of depression I was in at some point, and each helped me in its own way.
Ehhh, wow, that's alot of shit no one will read. I have alot more but...godamn, who's gonna read it. |

"Polly" by Nirvana of course. no, nobody raped me, but sometimes i feel like sb raped my mind. horrible.
i also like polish band called myslovitz. their songs are very depressing, they continuously sing about solitude and i like it. they would be my soundtrack.
and something furious, it would be every rebellious song. and a lot of magic instrumental folk melodies. |

HAHAHAHAHA! Now THAT is hilarious. Damn. Man, I wish I had something like that that I could follow up with, something like "I used to try to be a proffessional dancer" or something...wait actually I do. For a year when iI was 12 I voluntarily took gymnastics, in the hope that someday I would be able to flip without using my hands. Can now, but still can't land on my feet, and still feel like a retard. Well, I didn't compete.
As for me...hmmm. To start off...
Every gay pop song from 2001 similar to the-one-kevin-mentioned-about-staying-up-thinking-about-some-girl-of-which-i-had-a-crush-on -
Yup. Been there, done that. Almost the same, except I never did anything daring. Haha, I rarely have. Anyway, I was 12 when this happened too, and I was constantly thinking about her...until I realized it was stupid anyway and had a crush on someone else.
The Creed Album "Weathered"
Damn, was that a good one. I like it a lot to this day. Anyway, I bought that album, and for the whole summer that I was 13 during I listened to that album nonstop. I ended up finding a place, for the rest of that year, in my life where a song on that album related. Cool album
System of a Down - "Toxicity" (album)
Wow, what a gateway album. For all of 2003, I was listening to this album. Literally all. I loved this album like a mother, and happily it led me to this site because I was so obsessed with the songs I liked finding meanings to them that condemned society, and so I liked to share them on this site. Anyway, this definetely had a major impact on my life.
And I have more, but don't remember all of them. |
