good thinking about the lyrics. i never really thought about them that way. I dont think SOAD really had anything to do with the terrorist attacks

This was one of the more interesting songs on this website to read through. I think I read about about 50 people saying "zomfgz, you can't say that", and another 50 people saying "dude, just let the music take you away, don't think about it maann..."
I have also noticed the odd similarities their lyrics can have to terrorism, but then again, I also notice its similarities to my shoes..
P.S. To people that are saying the original poster should just enjoy the music, some people actually enjoy thinking.  |

| After reading these posts and laughing HYSTERICALLY! I admire SOAD's lyrics and I admire the guts it took for Serj to say what he thought even though it was unpopular and over analyzed! Do you really believe that we did not know it was coming? America is the watchdog of the world and have our hands in everything no matter how shady and disgusting. The Iraqi war is less about terrorism and more about flexing our muscles and if you think more backlash ain't coming you'd be wrong. We are a bunch of control freaks when it comes to sharing our views but if you have something we want you can be as twisted and back stabbing as we are and will over look it. Examples Darfur and Rwanda. Were they not under psycho tyrannical murderous rulers did we do shit to help them? No! Cause Africa has nothing to bargain with. Does it make me anti-American to think that the country is being ran by the same white trash that left england came over here and tortured women and children and made themselves rich on the blood of millions? And didn't they leave england on the basis of freedom of religion and an escape from capitalism? They were defying the rich to come kill and become rich themselves. I am not anti- American I am pro-changing the current System. Nothing anyone will ever say can make me believe that SOAD are anti- American I think like me they believe in America's potential to be great and equal. We are not. To illustrate the guy just getting sworn into office made national headlines and out cries because he wanted to use the Koran. Freedom of religion who are we to say what God he chooses? That's it I'll continue to laugh myself silly! |

| The reason I think people get these "hidden messages" or terrorist subliminal messages is because each member has that armenian heritage in thier life. But that doesnt mean they knew what was going to happen. I mean....seriously....what if they were full blown american. would you of thought they knew all of this 911 shit was going to happen? I don't think so. What if they were black. See people don't think about this. Although Daron was the only one who was born in USA. And the rest of the band was born across seas. I find it quiet rediculous that everyone gets these theories and thoughts about system of a down. They had nothing to do with the 911 event and they had no idea about it. It's all just a couincadince (sp). But I do find it amusing to see everyone theorys about SOAD's songs that i would never would of thought of. I find it crazy that you people take your time and actually think of what these sonsg really mean. And honestly you arent even close to what these songs even mean. I don't even know. Some you might know because of the band but not every single song they have told their fans what the songs mean. And it will always remain untold. They do sing about their life and childhood and dreams and drugs and also politics. But they are singing more then just that and they are trying to make us realize and find out for our selves and people like you arent getting the message that they are trying to give us. Maybe we will never know what they are trying to tell us. But 911 is far from the message they are trying to tell us. 911 has nothing to do with them!! So just drop the whole 911 shit! And actually think about the real message sin their music they are really trying to tell us. This message of mine may not make any sense to you and it may not be very important. I'm not hating on you people but im just giving you my own opinion. I hope this makes people realize SOAD are not TERRORISTS!!!! Now drop the 911 shit out of your head and take the time to actually figure out the real message instead of this nonsense 911 bullshit. Thank you and live free. |

| You can't say "You think too much" to a SOAD fan. SOAD encourages us to think. Anyway, SOAD talked about this topic several times over after 9/11... everyone was like "OMFG SOAD is psychic!" And others were like, "Dude, SOAD is part of that shit..." And then there was that whole thing about the "Understanding Oil" essay... and all the other shit. Whatever. You can perceive SOAD songs in so many different ways. I find that Tox relating to 9/11 wasn't entirely coincidence, perhaps a message from subliminal that SOAD can't control (And don't think of that the wrong way). I don't really know. This is when SOAD, their music, and world events start going into the paranormal side of things... |

| yea and if u listen close enough in chop seuy around 1:28 seconds it almost sounds like someone says 9/11 in the back ground but hey idk me and my friend thought we heard it so its just a theory |
