This is one of my favorite songs. I looked up it's song meaning and studied ones that had already been submitted. Then I studied the lyrics and put it all together:
This song is about America. It is also just a song, so says Serj. The first verse "Peter's pecker picked another pickle bearing pussy pepper" is about prostitution. The second, "Meeting at John Dale's Jr, winked an eye and point a finger" is about media and gossip. Third verse, "Former cop undercover, just got shot, now recovered," is pretty much self-explanatory. A cop retired, joined, got shot, recovered. Simple as that. The fourth one was a little harder to figure out. "Fighting crime with a partner, Lois Lane, Jimmy Carter" is about fighting crime and saving America fictionaly, and realistically. Lois Lane was Superman's bitch; so I relate that with saving America fictionally. Jimmy Carter was one of our presidents; saving America realsitically. (sorry this is so long) Now, for the chorus. This is simply our oooo and awwing that we do on the 4th of July. "As we light up the sky" sums that up. "Mine desilusions acquainted,
Bubbles erotica, (think of the song Bubbles)
Plutonium wedding rings, (the prices!)
Icicles stretching,
Bicycles, shoestrings,
One flag, flaggy but one, (one flag for the entire US, one flag for each state)
Painting the paintings of the alive. (symbolizing our freedom) |

nice, except jimmy carter was NOT exactly a great leader, i think theyre comparing him to lois lane cuz he really didnt do anyhting, yet he got plenty of credit. in fact, if i remember correctly, he got all the publicity for some camp david thing for helping the problems in the middle east, yet people are still blowing themselves up for no reason other than to kill innocents and put on the appearance of martyrdom

also notice that at the "we light up the sky" line, the singing they're doing there sounds like american indian music. so if you think about the fact that the song is about sort of the way that "america" is and the chorus has chanting indians, thats pretty damn interesting.
