Why not start a thread about my friend's aunt who died in a car crash today? Or one of the other thousands of people who died today?

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's aunt....It's a terrible thing if you get taken away in a car crash....How's your friend holding up?

She seems okay, I was on the phone with her for a few hours. It sort of comes in waves, she said. One minute she'll be okay and the next she's crying. But yeah, dying is silly. Confused

yeah it's a weird thing. But yet so many people are obsessed with it. I hope your friend's gonna be ok. My sympathies.

I think we had a talk about that lately... hmm... wasn't that in the kurt cobain thread?

it's actually stupid to start a new thread everytime someone famous dies. they are nothing better than normal people. more, they are really far more important

I know where everyone is comming from, but the way I look at it is, is without people like Christopher Reeves normal everyday people dont learn about the so called everyday things.. Ive never known anyone to experience what he did.. So I was closed off to it.. Without people like him my knowledge can only go so far. So if anything Ive said makes any sense thats good..If not just ignore it..

I just dont see the need to pay any more respect or anything to someone just because the media pays attention to them. And regarding him...well, I know this is probably going to be a bit effed because he's dead, but I didnt really like him. Yes, what happened to him was a tragedy...but it's funny how he didnt spend a dime towards the problem until he had it. I dont know, I think people gave him way too much credit for that. If you had millions of dollars and a disease or something that prevented you from moving, wouldnt you spend alot of that money to try to cure it? I would respect him more if he did the same, even if he didnt have the problem he was working to fix.

It's true that some celebrities help getting diseases or stuff like that become known. Sometimes I see them on tv and they are ambassadure (spell) of some kind of foundation that does alot of good to people. Sometimes those people have problems I never heard of so occasionally celebrities bring out problems that need to be taken care of or at least payed attention to. And because of their fame they get the attention they need to. I do respect it if a celebrity wants to be involved with a foundation like that and actually does something for that particulair foundation. I do respect that but I still say that it's a pitty that if someone famous dies the media pays so much attention to it and put so much money in the whole show that I think: Geesh that person is gone. it's a pitty but why spend so much money on that whole parade and not give it to people that really need it? Look at Royalty for instance. They get a million dollar funeral but meanwhile the people under that Royalty suffers poverty. What kind of world is that? In holland they do that too and I can get so mad over that.

Humans, in general, have their priorities confused. We value certain people above and beyond others, and it is disturbing to see it happening everywhere you turn.

System is tough to photograph. They're not really into all the hype that a lot of other bands are into, but they do want their fans to see the great moments.
