Paula's cameo on 'SNL'
drowned out by F-word

Heavy Metal Band System of a Down got one over on "Saturday Night Live" last night.
When the group performed "B.Y.O.B" from their new album "Mezmerize," the show repeatedly muted the F-word in the line, "Where the f--- are you?" But it missed guitarist Daron Malakian's screeched, "F--- yeah!" toward the end of the number. The camera even focused on him as he said it.
Fans of the group immediately hailed the move on System of a Down's Web site, with one noting, "The censors missed at least one 'f--- you.' Which was nice."
The band performed a second number, "Aerials," from their "Toxicity" album, without incident.
"SNL" traditionally doesn't use a tape delay. NBC did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The show has a history of controversial performances, from Ashlee Simpson getting caught lip-synching to Sinead O'Connor's ripping up a picture of Pope John Paul II.
Earlier, embattled "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul got the last laugh when the show spoofed her alleged Fox show sex scandal.
"What you're about to see is a reenactment of some events of this week's biggest news story," said Abdul as she introduced the NBC show. "Now, all the facts have been changed to get laughs at my expense. I hope you enjoy it."
The cast then did a skit loosely based on ABC's "Primetime Live" interview with ousted "Idol" contestant Corey Clark, who claims he and Abdul had an off-screen fling.
In the spoof, Amy Poehler played Abdul as a sex-starved hussy hitting on every male contestant from Clark to Justin Guarini.
But always the judge, the real Abdul had some criticism for Poehler's portrayal of her.
"Amy, you need to prefect the clap a little more and be a lot more sexier so that contestants will be willing to sleep with you," Abdul said.

I watched it. I thought BYOB sounded a bit off when they got to the "Everybody's going to the party have a real good time..." The guitar sounded a bit different than in the recorded version. I mean, it sounded really kind of 60ish. But I didn't particularly mind it.
And Aerials, was FLAWLESS! They did everything perfect.
And when SNL missed Daron's "FUCK" I just laughed, and knew this would be on the news article.
I also liked the skit with the telethon..."OH NO!!" ...and "HELLOONO!" And they made fun of Donald Trump. Twas awesome.
I will try to record this episode the next time it comes on. I really only watched it to see System.

i thought BYOB was terrible they did a very bad job aerials was done good though the whole show was stupid i only watched it to see system and it was kinda of a let down

The preformance on B.Y.O.B was a bit off, but it wasn't awful. Aerials on the other hand was awesome. I also noted that at the end of the show, Jonny was saying "Happy Mothers Day" to his mom and behind him, Shavo waved and mouthed "I love you mommy" which I thought was pretty damn cute.

i also thought b.y.o.b wasnt the gratest. ariels was top[ notch. anyone else find the weekend update about britney spears new show funny? "beverly hillbiliys was already take" that just made me laugh. ill haver to watch my tape and look for shavo

Well you also have to count in that they've had three years to play around with Aerials, and not as much with BYOB. I imagine they are still practicing and experimenting a bit with it.

Waht the fuck??!! BYOB was near perfection! it only seemed off because the ride cymbal was miked louder than the bass drums when he did his triplets throughout the verses! and the chorus was the most brilliant!! wtf, 60's?! hell no, it was SKA-ized! learn your genres people!!

THAT WAS SO AWESOME!! It was the only time I laughed during the whole show. But, yeah, the preformances were really good. Why'd they play Aerials, though, I'm not complaining, I just thought they were gonna play Chop Suey

lol, StupidJew, if you listen to that live version of BYOB, when they get to the chorus, the guitar sounds WAY different than the recorded version.

ok i watched it and he does say i love u mummy. its kinda funny they were talking about it on the radio this morning. exept they kept saying system of doiwn. then some guy called in and said its system of A down. the hosts got pretty embarised.,

i liked it but the one hting i dont get is that now soad has tuend eveyrhting up a half step. i dont mind it off the nuew album, but i wish they would play the old stuf at the tuning it should be, not at c#

System has always been drop C and never standard or drop D. All theyre songs are drop C. Anyways, about BYOB sounding different live, i noticed it sounded a bit off on SNL, but I went to Sould 05 and it sounded perfect live, just like the studio version. I dont know, maybe it was the TV and stuff??

NaRoB, I bet your right. They probably couldn't have the equipment up as loud, or maybe they didn't have the right effects going. And because it wasnt in a huge space, it couldn't echo right. So it was secluded, but still BYOB could've been better. It was good, but they just haven't practiced it enough. It still kicked ass seeing it live, twas the first time I saw it live.
