SYSTEM OF A DOWN is coming back hard with their new dual album project called Mezmerize/Hypnotize.
The first half on the project Mezmerize is now in stores all over the world since May 16th and the other half will come out around November, 6 months after the release of Mezmerize in May.
Serj Tankian:
"We went through some difficult times this past year and some emotional periods left back in the past right now made the new songs burst with more emotional content."
The idea of bringing out 2 albums came because Daron Malakian had written many new songs for the album and it was too much to put on one album at once.
Serj Tankian:
"We didnt wanted to overwhelm our fans with too much at a time and thats why we brought them out on 2 different records that has to be seen as one"
Rick Rubin is once again the man for the job to produce their new albums with Daron Malakian and the outcome of this project can be discribed in one word, "Magnificent"
Rick Rubin:
"When we first started with recording the 2 albums, we focussed on the songs one by one to make every song as great and understanding as they could be.
We gave ourselves with every song more than a 1000%.
We werent looking for the idea, the idea came to us."
Mezmerize is already a hit around the world and sold over 500.000 copies already and is still on its way to success.
However Hypnotize will come out 6 months from now, the media is already focussing on that album.
And for now we will be Mezmerizing for the next 6 months and from then on we will be Hypnotized by their second "Work of art" made by SYSTEM OF A DOWN and Rick Rubin.

Yeah, Hypnotize is cool! But 6 months is so long... Kill Rock'n'Roll is really great! It's interesting, what will be better Mezmerize or Hypnotize?

I think that Holy Mountain sounds like the best song that they've done for a while. From what i've heard from the Live version anyway.
