A Darkened Smokey Hall, An Excited Massive Crowd, Inflated Condoms Being Thrown Around.... And The Anticipation Awaiting The Band To Come On Stage.
I Arrived At The SECC Arena At Around 6:30pm, The Que Was The Largest I Have Ever Seen At Any Gig, It Went From One End Of The Arena To The Other. The Atmosphere Was Great! Everyone Smiling And Happy Awaiting The Doors To Open.
When They Opened The Que Packed In To The Small Bars Around The Stands And We Quickly Past Through The Mass Of Guards Into The Standing Area, We Managed To Squeeze Threw The Massive Pack Of People And Get Straight To The Front Of The Stage. Half Hour Past And The Arena Was Packed! The Lights Dimmed And On Walked The Warm Up Band Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.
The Played A Half Hour Or So And Then They Left Leaving Everone In A Great Mood, The Lights Faded Once Again And Down Dropped A Huge Mezmerize Flag In Front Of The Stage. A Light Came On Showing A Silhouette Of Daron And His Gibson, The Whole Crwod Let Out A Massive Roar As He Intro'd The Gig With Soldier Side, As He Started BYOB The Whole Crowd Yelled Out "Why Do They Always Send The Poor!".
They played Song After Song, The Crowd Bursting Out And Giving It All They Had, Mosh Pits Forming Almost Everywhere! Daron Played A Slow Cover Song To Kill Rock And Roll That Sounds Very Familiar But I Can't Quite Put My Finger On What It's Called. Some Of The Crowd Didnt Really Seem To Know The Song But, As Long As They Were Having Good Time, Who Cares!
The Outro'd With Sugar With Its Robot Intro, They Crowd Went Crazy As Daron Threw Pics And Join Threw His Sticks. We Walked Out To A Freezing Cold Night And Waited On The Band. I Had An Armenian Flag That Me And My Mates Waved At The Window And Serj Gave Us A Wave Back, As Daron Entered The Bus Him And John Gave Us A Wave And Shavo And Serj's Brother Came Over For A Word.
Shavo Looked Kind Of Stoned But He Was Totally Cool And Chilled. He Told Us How He Was Going To Sweden Next And That It Looked Like We Were In Prison As He Chatted Threw The Barred Fence. He Signed My Flag And Ticket Then Had To Go Back To The Bus, He Shook Our Hands And Said Goodbye And Got On The Bus. As The Bus Left A Group Of Fans Who Had Been Waiting Further Along Chased It Along The Motorway.
In Conclusion, The Best Gig I Have Ever Seen In My Life, Loads Of Sweat, Mosh Pits, Smell Of Cannabis And Rushing Security Guards! I Have Never Been So Excited In My Life. I Hope They Come To The U.K Again Soon So I Can Experience It All Over Again!

Great review. I saw you with the Armenian flag! It was a brilliant gig. The inflatable condoms were cool! The pits were fucking crazy!!! There was a great accoustic intro to Cigaro!

yeah mike, me and lindsay held the flag while you had your lighter, still... no matter how good you explain anything you had to be there to fully experience the massive burst of excitement!

oh, but one thing i was quite confused about was that they said that the mars volta were supporting, i think that the mars volta are much better than the support that was acctually there....but it still rocked!
