Chicago Concert 9/30 Review |

 When we first got in the doors, we started looking for our seats, which were in section 101. We circled around the building, completely, and ended up passing the merchandise stand, of course, I couldnt pass that up. Just wanted to look, and maybe try to talk Noah into buying me something later, ya know?
So we went to our seats, and sat down for maybe 5 minutes when a band named Hella came on. Just constant music with occassional singing.
They FINALLY get off the stage about 30-45 minutes later and the lights came on. Everyone was like "They sucked!".
So about 15 minutes later, Mars Volta came on, and the crowd went crazy. They were awesome the first 15 minutes of the show and then it went into constant music, again. The overwhelming smell of the pot smokers behind us were making me sneeze, so about 35 later, I gave up on trying to stay interested in Mars Volta and sat down with Noah. They finished their gig and the lights came on.
About 10 minutes later, the curtain with the cover of Mezmerize came up and the crowd went crazy. Why you ask, I have no idea. All of the sudden you see a swarm of people chasing after some bald headed guy.... turns out the guitar player for Antrax was there. You know, the one with the red beard or whatever.
The lights go out, and the crowd went insane. Darons silhouette came on the curtain and he started playing Soldier Side. He sang it perfectly, silence......
The beginning guitar riff to BYOB began and the curtain dropped. Serj came dancing out, Shavo was jumping around and Daron is going crazy. The crowd was singing all of the songs louder than them! The whole concert was flawless..... they played Hypnotize, which was AWESOME! You wont be disapointed with that single!
They played Kill Rock N Roll, Daron played some random stuff, like a Dire Straights song, but instead of saying "we are the sultans" Daron said "we are the system, we are the system of a down" and then later on, he busted out the beginning of Van Halens "Panama" just as a little teaser. He added a dash of Neil Young, and then they did a free style jam for about 5 minutes.
Shavo was shining a reflective beam from his pick guard onto the audience, *sigh* it reflected in my eye, ok sorry!
They of course, played my favorite song, Forest, got a little teary eyed I must admit, but it was so awesomely perfect in everyway, except for not being a little closer but still, I'm overwhelmed that they played my favorite song.
Later on, I saw the Anthrax guitarist walk out in front of me, I swear if I wouldve know that he was gonna walk by, I would tried to touch him! Before ending the concert with Sugar, Serj wanted to tell us about how the rally turned out on Thursday in front of the speaker of the houses office. He also asked us to send a internet fax to them, so yeah, I gotta get on that one.
After Sugar, John came out and threw his sticks in the crowd. And they walked off! A dream come true and everything that I went through for that concert was so totally worth it.
They are my new obsession compulsion disorder. Afterwards, I talked Noah into getting me a shirt, I couldnt walk away without a new System shirt.

Man it was a fantastic concert. They are better live than I imagined. It was cool, during Mr. Jack someone threw a bunch of red papers at Daron and he called them a dumbass or something during the song. I can't remember exactly what he said but it was something to that effect.

That was a kickass concert, lol Daron's My My, Hey Hey inro " My my, hey hey rock n roll sure is gay" n.n And Mr. Jack was awesome, I thaught it was funny with all the security and what-not there and us yelling out Fuck you pig!!!! n.n

IT WAS FREAKIN' AWSOME! MY PALS AND I WAITED FOR 3-4 HRS IN LINE AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! WE ENDED UP BEING IN FRONT OF SHAVO AND ALMOST ALL THE TIME WE TRIED TO GET HIS ATTENTION... -AND IT WORKED! SHAVO THREW HE PICK AT ME! YAY! ........ but................. something wasn't right about serj... he seemed kinda sad.... while saying his little speech of his dying/near death grandfather he was starting to talk about going to the website and sending the webfax to hashert, but he just stop and came out with "you guys are fuckin' beautiful!!!" -w/ feeling... aw.... afterwards, i noticed that serj went up to shavo and said something and then shavo just simply gave serj a "its-ok" patpat on the back... i dont know, but serj didn't seem to be all hyper... i mean he was, but i guess you can say that his "hyperness" lacked feeling.......

my friend and i were the first ones there and we waited 8 hours for that concert... it was the best thing everrrrr

OMG!! I went to this concert...its was pretty good except for the fact I didn't get good seats. :) Oh well... I liked it. LOL i yelled at the people in back of me for booing for Hella. I got seriously mad...I respect all bands!!! P/S/: Those tour shirts were a little pricy some were 35 dollars!!! Come on, I ended up getting a 25$ one

Dude Hella was terrible. They were the worst band I have ever seen. That is fine that you respect them, but you shouldn't expect everyone else to like them. Especially when they have a terrible guitar player, drummer, singer, bass player, and keyboardist. Hella just plain blew.

i went with him ^^ and it was too awesome! My first real concert, and im glad it was sytem. one of the best experiences of my life. Anyone who loves them but hasnt seen them yet has to try their best to do so, because you will neevr regret it. Mars volta sucked BTW, so its ok if u show up a lil late ^_-
