This was the first rock concert I had ever been to and I was really excited to go, The venue was Arco Arena which is the Sacramento Kings stadium. We got floor seats and I was amazed at how close we were, probably 20 feet from the barrier which was 7 feet from the stage. Within 30 minutes, Hella came on, they looked like a bunch of zombies that lived only to beat there instuments for half an hour a day. Talented zombies though, they re-created the music of there cds perfectly. They played maybe 8 songs and each member walked off leaving just the original two, the guitarist and drummer and then they jammed until the drummer threw his cymbals and the guitarist left. The drummer continued banging his drum set and throwing off pieces until all he had was just the bass drum, which he still kept beating until it broke.
The Mars Volta were also really good and played five or six songs. The problem with them is they dragged them on to long but even still they were great. It seemed like a really long time before the lights went out for System Of A Down but as soon as they did everybody tried running towrds the barrier and started bouncing around even before the show opened, surprisingly everybody got quiet for Daron to sing Soldier Side then they went into BYOB and it was crazy agan. It was really insane, they played so good. They had the drummer from the Deftones who is from Sacramento play hte song "Science" and he only screwed up once. Serj told the audience that it was all unrehearsed and you knew it because the drummer came on like three songs before and just stood behind John. Shavo also seemed to want to play the drums since he kept hitting the symbals with his bass. Daron asked Shavo what he wanted and Shavo said "I want to see Sacto jump around!!", "That was just what I was thinking of" Replied Daron as they began to play Bounce.
Before they played the new song 'Hypnotize' Daron said that it was a new song from the new album and he better not hear anybody sing it, but of course everybody sang it.
By the end of the show there was only one person in front of me and the barrier and I was about 7 feet from Daron which seemed really unreal. Of course what was even more unreal was how close I was to other men and how I was covered in their sweat. There was a long haired kid in front of me and everythime he bangged his head his sweat got all over me but by the end I was used to it. I also had lost my shoe during the third song which miracuously I found at the end and it was nicely tied which was crazy since it wasnt tied when I lost it. It was a great show and I really hope they come back again soon.

Hey, I was at that show too, and it was also my first rock concert. But I do believe it was Daron that said Science was unrehearsed, I was looking at him when he said it. Great review, you took the words right out of my mouth! Another add-on about the Mars Volta-- it seemed to me like the lead singer performed more to the drummer than to the audience. Out of their whole set, I saw his face exactly once, the rest of the time, I was staring at his back! And yeah, I agree that they drug it out a bit too long. I was feelin' it at first, but by the end of it, I was like, "Okay, I'm over it, let it go." Other than that, it was the best experience of my entire life. Now if only I can meet them, hmm....

I was there too, with my cousin and a friend... We were sitting in section 119a on Shavo's side. I nearly DIED when Shavo looked over at my cousin and I as we blew him kisses and he "caught them" and blew us kisses back... the guy from Deftones' name is Abe Cunningham (drummer), and he did screw up more than once... well, musicians' ears caught the errors, but normal ears only heard one fuckup. Sick-ass concert. Except for Hella and Mars Volta, who are all awesome musicians except for the fact that they could have shortened their songs so people could actually get into it. Although Hella's lyrics were extremely hard to capture... I should write a review... I think I will...

I was in section 121! And you're right, lanubez99, Abe did screw up more than once. But for not having rehearsed at all, I'd say he did a pretty good job. I just remembered another thing for all the worried females at this site, Serj looked like he's starting to gain some of his weight back. He wasn't skinny like all the pictures have been making him look lately, but he wasn't chubby either. He looked healthy. :)

<FONT color=white size=5>I'm glad that you felt that the Sac. concent rocked but you obviously didnt go to any others. Compared to the Long Beach, San Jose, and Fresno concerts; the Sac concert was weak; the sacramento crowed is to ruff, I had guys elbowing me and girls pulling my hair; dont get me wrong it totally rocked and I pay and travel just as far in a heart beat but you could tell that they were all tried, mostly Serj!!!! During the concert, someone from the crowed threw a paper airplane on to the stage, Serj picked it up and tossed it in the back. John picked it up and threw it straight at my sister and I, We were so excited, you'd think we had actually touched him. "The Mars Volta" is FREAKIN' AWESOME, they get down but if your a "At the drive-in" fan then you already known that. Taking "Hella" on tour was a mistake, "Hella", hella sucked!!!!!!! I know that theyre with serjical records and all, but damn Serj! (and imagine I listen to that crap 4 times.) The Long Beach concert was the opener, they were so awesome, I was so close to the stage that I reached out and I was able to touch Serj's hand as he was on his knee singing "Question!". The only reason that I was able to get that close was 'cause I while I was gettting putted out of the crowed, the security guard lost balance and I went toward the stage, reaching for Serj. The concert in Fresno was great, Darren's father was there (he dedicated a song to him) and they rocked hard because of that and also cause Fresno is one of the largest Armenian cities(found by Armenians), thats what they said.

I actually agree, Hella hardly sang, its was mostly just screaming. I'm telling you, they're great musicians, but they don't work well together, lol. Anyway, I know Daron's mom, and very few fans know who she is... she's totally cool. We ate Baklava together, lol.

In case you are wondering, Hellas lyrics dont make sense anyway, "Jesus got soup on his face", "We are all tied in a church gone wild" and you know junk like that. Was that why people were screamin alot before the show for Darons family?? Yeah the crowd was way to rough I am surprised I didnt lose my other shoe as well as my legs and arms.... I gave Daron a thumbs up when he looked at me and he seemed confused why he was seeing a thumb instead of a middle finger. I also noticed they seemed a little tired except for Shavo who had more energy then all the people in the whole arena. Any pictures from this show or video or audio??
